What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Yes in a way, but if this metal run keeps up it will mean a stronger AUD, which has happened every time there is a "run".

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I think you mean sulphide, NiS, and it's a precursor for the batteries. And the Li guys are working overtime phase out Ni and Co. The metals market is far more complex than mine closures these days; stocks (LME and consumer), traders, etc, make it a fun place to be in. I've been in the...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

In a way, the US situation has affected metal prices. Once you change fundamentals, you change the foundations. What is not reflected/quoted in the price is the "premium" over LME. And when tariffs were applied, metal prices didn't change much, but premiums went through the roof. Further, stocks...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Quoting from Mitsui Metals: " Market was extremely volatile across metals, and still is. Asian time zone all metals shot up then consolidated. Copper hit record level $14527.50 in Asia morning, fell sharply to $13500 level around 3pm London time, then closed at $13705." Their daily LME reflects...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Problem is, the demand for metals listed on the LME are soft at best. Latest increase was due to the weakness in the USD. A better guide on metals is look at the LME and SME stocks of each element; Cu, Ni, Zn, Al and Sn, Pb never moves.

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

I just opened AFF as I'm sculling a beer after spending the Melbourne morning/afternoon cleaning the 40 panels on the roof! It's one thing to pencil in that they do have to be cleaned when you put them in. One area with about 1 foot of roof is the danger spot as the fall is around 2 1/2 stories...

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I feel that I'm in the final straight now for LTP, under the "5 figure" and shortly in the 8,000's to go. And to be honest, thoughts and drivers changed from when I was in the 40-50,000's as I got both WP and Gold for the various alliances pre-Covid. Big year last year: 5,020 SC (and no P1!) put...

    Singapore (SIN) Stopover Tips

We probably drifted OT(!!!), but I think the point is there is a lot to do in Singapore other than downtown: Clark Quay, Orchard, Marina BS, etc. Sungei Boloh Wetlands is another (my first encounter with a cobra!) and an easy Grab ride from Changi Village. Another Hotel is the Changi Cove, and...

    Singapore (SIN) Stopover Tips

I took these along the Riverwalk last year. Not the greatest photos as it was in the early morning light.

    Singapore (SIN) Stopover Tips

I've mentioned previously that I stay out at the Village Hotel at Changi. Great hawkers' markets, along with a few bars. The hotel is ok, but at SIN150 cannot complain. You can get a bum boat for $4 across to Pulau Ubin, and right into the forest/rainforest. Last visit came across a spitting...

    Thank you for your loyalty

Interesting mathematics from QF; noticed that on my "lifetime circle", they have included the 150SC bonus towards my LTP, but deducted 150 SC from my lifetime earn. I'm sure it's just a simple mistake from them!!!!!!!!!

    QANTAS Cyber Incident

I think they must be training staff on how to avoid the word "apology". JQ7 was 9hr 20min late last week, and the Captain's address, well into the flight was, quote, "Thanks for your understanding why we are late". That was it, no more, no less!!!!

Travel Agents that understand the SC game

We were once referred to as "Met heads", but that has a whole new connotation now!

Travel Agents that understand the SC game

Years ago, there used to be a tour of Finland - The Finnminers tour. Perfect for rock doctors (geologists) and metallurgists; plenty of mine sites and smelters, but much more vodka!

Travel Agents that understand the SC game

Wandering a bit off topic, but yes some of these bird tours cost a bloody fortune! Chile in March was just under $800 a day. Five hours in Da Nang was USD150. It will cost me $800 in Medan, September for two nights. And then the big ones Columbia 12N $16,000, Sabah 11N $16,000, even the UK 9N...

Travel Agents that understand the SC game

I forgot to add that when I was in the Corporate arena, we used TA's for 35 years, so know the game well. But I think my difference is the birding. I generally plan, (after business is over) around the bird sites I find/explore on eBird, like on Monday, I was on Cau Dai beach Da Nang, looking...

Travel Agents that understand the SC game

Read this thread last night and woke up thinking: why don't I use TA's? I haven't used a TA for 10 years now, and when I'm planning a trip, I don't even think of engaging one. One reason could be how/what I do by mixing business with birding. I start by booking my "spine" leg, the major leg, and...

    QANTAS Cyber Incident

I think I'm in the same boat! I just found out, accidentally, that a new "cyber" tab was in my profile page. And it was the same message as pretentious git's quote. I've checked my spam/delete box, nothing. Called the number listed, they were pleasant, but only suggestion was to submit a...

    Aircraft Models

I put my collection together many years ago, mainly 1/600 Schabak, which disappeared from the scene a long time ago. They were great when displayed, but the dust buildup and trying to clean around them was a nightmare, so they are back in their boxes. I have over 200.
