    The old qantas/jetstar runaround

Given the difference in journey time you would be within your rights to cancel the booking and get a full refund, however I think any attempt to get Qantas to put you on another flight will be fruitless (and given that you actually did book Y AKL-SYD, there would be no obligation on them to...

Great service from Alamo in Spain.

Just wondering if anything's changed since this thread or if you'd still recommend them for Spain? Currently looking at a one-way drive from Barcelona to Madrid over 14 days and Alamo seem to be one of the cheapest. I normally use Europcar or Avis and feel like I've read bad reviews of Alamo in...

Qantas soft landing? Gold to Lifetime silver

A soft landing would be if he was Platinum, and failed to retain - he would drop to Gold under a soft landing. If he is lifetime silver and loses gold then he's still lifetime silver. Not a soft landing technically!

Linking JAL flight to Qantas Account

I remember having that experience too on a RTW J ticket in 2000. They wanted to charge us for extra baggage until I pointed out that it was a business fare.

Paid for lounge but received J upgrade?

Depends what the "certain circumstances" are I guess, but I wouldn't hold your breath - I expect it's like how seat purchases are non-refundable if you then get an upgrade.

    Lifetime Gold - now what?

I can think of better things to spend ~$800K on than lifetime WP I have to say ;)

Why doesn’t Alliance Airlines use QFF?

I imagine Qantas would want to pay them such a low rate for award seats that it wouldn't be worth their while.

Qantas Hotels no longer supplying Tax Invoices

If you pay Qantas in Australia, and Qantas are registered for GST, then legally they must provide a tax invoice.

How does Classic upgrade rewards work?

A monthly subscription to seatspy.com might be worth it if you're having trouble finding award seats.

Another new low for QF. Charging WP for a standard Y seat

What? You thought WPs were special? Well think again, this is Qantas after all.

    Qantas First class SYD-LAX

Maybe they never offer it because they know you wouldn't want it. Evidence of how much research they do and how well they know their customers ;)

Article: Should Qantas Sell Status Credits?

Conversely, what use are SCs if you don't fly? Status does nothing unless you actually travel to use it.

Upgrading with Points - Qantas Frequent Flyer Program

The way the international upgrade system works is certainly not made readily apparent to the average punter. I remember a friend of mine telling me about calling Qantas when she decided to upgrade a SYD-KUL flight for the first time ever. She was expecting the process to be as simple as for...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

That seems a very old fashioned attitude. Being loyal to QF these days comes in many forms besides actually putting in time in a seat. It's all about the $$$ at the end of the day.

    Has flying J ruined you?

Flying J shows you that air travel doesn't have to be a completely horrendous experience. It's a wake up call if anything!
