Frequent flyers whose kids have hit gold status

You can get gold easily enough from a single holiday to Europe in J, I'm sure there'd be lots of kids who picked up gold at the same time as their parents that way.

Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

Qantas will surely go the same way sooner or later. Fortunately Qantas fares are so high that it will probably make earning status easier!

    Direct flight SC calculation

The only way you'd get SCs for each leg is if the flight number changed (or you had a >24hr stopover).

    Qantas Business cancellation fee

I'd be surprised if that works given gift cards are not usually redeemable for cash.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Seems they have a bit of work to do on it; e.g. on ADL-MEL for the coming month, the calendar shows Classic+ available almost every day but going through to booking and nothing's available at all.

Loyalty bonus: 50 sc or 8000 points. Which is best, and in which situation - confused

The loyalty bonus means e.g. platinum really requires 1300 SCs rather than 1400 SCs. If chasing status the SCs are definitely the better option. Now that I'm lifetime gold and not flying that much I picked the points for the first time this year (ended my year with ~780 SCs so another 50 would...

Change Classic Reward ticket to a new name - daughter name to mother - same surname

Honestly why even bother? No one will check that your name exactly matches the booking.

UK Air Passenger Duty increasing again and more in 2025

£253 APD for a J class flight to Australia. I guess that's only about the same price as a taxi to Heathrow

    Weird behaviour on planes

On a recent BA flight from LGW-PMI. I was in 2C in BA's "business class" (lol). Chap in front in 1C was behaving quite oddly pretty much from takeoff. Kept sort of bouncing up and down in his seat every few minutes. I assumed he had some sort of condition and thought no more about it. After...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Yes as others have said, it's just the general service counters now at MEL T1. There was no dedicated premium queue operating on Saturday PM but the airport was pretty quiet so wait was quite short. Agent seemed a little confused by the concept of an international connection but we got there in...

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Does Qantas still have a dedicated desk in MEL T1 check-in for international connections? Or do you just check in like a normal domestic flight these days?
