    Qantas ff account hacked

Qantas for the longest time (not so long ago) had 'We use Verisign to protect your information' just as you do a search or login. The best part? They weren't. They were using another certificate provider. I advised a friend in the industry, and it took QF months to fix it (even though I believe...

Better Strategy - Qantas or AA?

This. Living in the USA, AA is an absolute no brainer, with one caveat. AA elites do not get lounge access on domestic only itineraries. If that's important to you, you either have to buy an Admirals Club membership, or use a credit card to gain access where possible (if you are eligible for a...

How to avoid paying QFF Joining fee

Already posted ;) #17 The day AN ceased operations (the first time) I joined as I was being flown to SYD for a job interview (figured I should get something out of it!).

    Why fly direct ... ?

My next trip: My most stupid routing within a 14 day period was MEL-AKL-SYD-LAX-LAS-LAX-LAS-ORD-LGA-MIA-SJU-MIA-JFK-ORD-LAS-LAX-DFW-BOS-DFW-LAS-LAX-SYD-AKL-MEL (A touch over 36,000 miles): Just a tad shorter than the other, the Star MegaDo4 tied in with a work trip...

    Why fly direct ... ?

Hence my suggestion of combining them into a what's the cheapest and how insane was it to get that. They go hand in hand.

How to avoid paying QFF Joining fee

Doh. Here was me (the IT Staffer) assuming that cause you could actually put in all the AU details, that it'd let you submit it. Terrible (both of me to assume and for them to not do it right). You are, of course, right ;)

    Why fly direct ... ?

I think a more interesting thread would be 'What's the least you've paid for an SC *and* how insane was the routing'? I think my best was 210 VA SC's for $35 ;) Have hit the $1.30ish mark on AA runs before 'simpler and fairer' which were 6 segments from Origin to Destination.

    AA's SYD-LAX flight

I've probably flown AA domestic F over a 100 times, and I can count on two hands the number of bad egg's i've had in the cabin. Mostly, the AA crew in F are excellent. They also love chatting to an Australian accent ;)

Award Booking - Changing to Earlier Flight

I've had no problems with AA moving me to an earlier flight when connecting from an international flight, even on an award. That was some time ago, but typically they're very good. You can only ask :)

    Why not stockpile AA points

Factoring in this, plus any possible devaluation, and severe availability issues in premium cabins on non-AA metal, the cost does not look good. You're also effectively hedging currency by doing this too. There are frequently offers ex-AU to Europe for around $5kAUD on some decent airlines (I...

AA Challenges - Questions and General Discussion

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri Suggest you look here: https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/do/dyns/initialPointsEarned Put in the flights and be sure to select the right cabin and airline. If you calculated it at QF SC earn rates, you're going...

How to avoid paying QFF Joining fee

Didn't that end when QF and BA terminated the JSA? You can select Australia from the Executive Club signup form now.

Choice of J returning from US: QF, CX, JL (QR)

Not sure if this would be viable, but AA have the same Business seat on AA73 from LAX to SYD as CX do. Trans-con you could do QF from JFK to LAX, then connect onto the AA service (on a QF code if that suited the award). Would be the best routing and possibly less points if all on QF codes.

Midnight to Dawn in Abu Dhabi, what to do?

Looks like i'm departing AUH around 1330, but i'm in F so perhaps that helps. The hospital shows tours from 10am (but has not got December loaded into their booking site yet). 10-12, 15 minutes back to airport. It's tight, but possible.

    Economy seat size

Interesting. NZ105 is operated by the 767's which have a far more generous seat pitch/width than the A320's they put on MEL-AKL. Older, yes, but i'd take that any day over their sardine-like A320's (I refuse to fly them).

Midnight to Dawn in Abu Dhabi, what to do?

Did you book the Falcon Hospital online? Had issues getting the site to work (it's terrible!) I may run into time issues as I arrive early AM and depart early PM. May be forced to hang around the airport:(

Midnight to Dawn in Abu Dhabi, what to do?

Hopefully that's the case in December, was hoping to go to the Falcon Hospital or maybe the Grand Mosque with my 9 hour layover.

Choice of J returning from US: QF, CX, JL (QR)

Respectfully disagree. I have had the best sleep on any a/c on CX in J. I cannot for the life of me sleep on Skybed mark I or II. Each to their own of course:)

Midnight to Dawn in Abu Dhabi, what to do?

Going to hijack this thread a little then ;) Can you tell me if anything/everything is open as usual on December 26? I would assume it was as it's typically a Christian-esque holiday.
