Is paying to join Costco worth it?

Re: Costco - Products, Prices and Deals Just to negate most of the previous page, you know you don't have to pay the first visit if you simply wish to look around? Go to the service desk, ask for a sign up form but mention you'd like to take a look around before you sign up. You obviously won't...

    Credit Card Approval

There are many low-income cards. According to one website, $15k is all it takes for the Coles one: Coles No Annual Fee MasterCard | Compare, Review & Apply I'm sure you'd probably only get a $500 credit limit or something though at that level of income. Banks will process on either pre or...

QF Vs VA Premium Economy to LAX

Us WP's and SG's have to have something over the PS's ;) Seriously though, there's even less of a differentiation between SG and WP on VA than there is on QF.

Bonus 3000 Velocity Points with Amex-issued card

The promo excluded 'splitting bills' but people found it still worked (ie, paying a phone bill off in 1-2c increments per transaction). I myself bought a lot of single chiillis from Coles (although this was pre-self-service check-out days so you got strange looks) ;)

    SYD-AUH via MEL

Are you on the 777 or A380 out of MEL (A380 from June). You're in for a treat if you got on the A380 (They're operating both post-June, so be sure to check).

Bonus 3000 Velocity Points with Amex-issued card

Ahh flashbacks to the promo 8-10 years ago or so where they had 5k for 5 transactions, 10k for 10 and 20k per 20 (three different targetted offers) for the QF ultimate card, where there was *no* limit on how many you could earn (enrollment lasted around 4-5 days before they locked it down). Many...

Yup got mine too. Bargain :)

AA redemption, can see but can not select

EF also shows QF availability. Great tools combined but still annoying to have to search so granularly :)

Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

Still reckon a flexi with discount code and 9000 points is the best option. Full flexi SC's as well as additional point earn for extra dollars (so 5k or so for a flexi if you're a WP). Short of aspirational awards such as EY F (which i've just cashed in for), the 5k points earned and...

Lounge access upon arrival in LAX

Wow that's gone up. Used to be around the $80 plus taxes mark for day use!

    LAX TBIT Lounge access

It's not actually a Qantas lounge though, it's a OW lounge operated by Qantas. LAX is one of the special rules lounges (eg, QP passes not permitted there but QP members are). Looks like Westjet depart from T3, so you have to go landside and back through T3 security before you leave too (T3 is...

    Portable Wifi Rental

I work in the roaming SIM industry and agree with most people here. Use an android/iPhone in hotspot mode, or buy a sub-$100 4G hotspot (many around). Get a local SIM, load it up and go nuts, or use a roaming SIM if you're visiting a few countries (we have products as do many of our competitors...

    1st class bucket list

I have a similar situation on a paid ticket in J in a few weeks. QF wouldn't let me book a 6am flight to SYD, so i'm going to rock up at the airport anyway. Hopefully as paid J they let me change (even though it was a sale fare). I reckon if you rocked up earlier, your odds would be good of...

QF Vs VA Premium Economy to LAX

QF over VA anyday for hard and soft product. I've found the crew on VA generally tend to be better, but food and drink is not. VA are pretty generous with their SC's (120 for BNE-LAX) and it's easier to earn status. If I had to choose, i'd select QF unless VA was $400-500 less. Depending on...

    Guesting strangers into the lounge

Perhaps a former American? Their "thank you for your service" is astounding. Still feel uneasy about their fandom of their military and how deeply ingrained it really is (so much so LAX and other airports have dedicated loungs (the USO) for them!).

Is paying to join Costco worth it?

Re: Costco - Products, Prices and Deals Very well summaried. IMHO, Costco is great for families of 4 or more, or small businesses (we tend to buy bits n pieces there like biscuits or random office supplies). For people who live alone, it holds no value worthwhile of a membership fee.

Aquire 50% extra Status Credits and double Aquire points offer

https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Starting-your-own-business/Choosing-your-business-structure/Sole-trader/ It's "other income" on your personal tax return. They wanted an invoice, they didn't care who it was to, stating my ABN, my trading name and services rendered. The ATO won't care if it's a...

Aquire 50% extra Status Credits and double Aquire points offer

I was under the impression that you simply declared it in your own personal tax income (when my account asks 'any other income?' I need to tell them). I'd rather you were right of course, but I suspect the taxman is greedy ;)

Bonus 1,000 velocity points via Auspost mailbox.

That's why I use it. None of my other utliities (water/power/gas etc) are on there, but it's actually easier to pay via that than the Telstra website.

Bookings made with a Gift Card count for Status and Points?

Certainly should do. It's just an alternate way of paying for a published fare, just like QF (where some people buy the vouchers to avoid the CC fee, in bulk, and use them throughout the year).
