I've done 5 bookable 35 minute connections over the past 18 months - Missed three (all at BNE)- maybe that tells you something.... Ran across terminal for one (SYD) (Perth connection - they seem to wait longer for passengers on these flights) Easily made the other (MEL) as it was the same plane...

Did that recently - just to try out LAN. Recognition - none. Seat selection - many of the good seats were blocked and even my seat was changed at check in as well so. Service was efficient but not very friendly. Food was rather average. Newspapers were available - but only in Spanish.

Did QF SIN-PER yesterday in J (PLT1 thank you upgrade apparently :)) - thought food was really quite good in the lounge (to order spicy tamarind prawns or caramelised miso pork belly) and during the flight - had a nice goats cheese salad and grilled grouper with spicy Chinese style eggplant...

A very interesting article and not much of a surprise given how old fashioned SkyWest was in everything they did. Was bound to go wrong eventually putting that up against the VA culture. (and if it was QF deferring and effectively grounding new planes it would be all over the front page!)

The check-out day is the one that counts - even if a 20 days stay over December with the check out being 1 Jan . Have done this over the last 3 years :)

Interesting - I regularly stay at both, although admittedly I stay at the Hilton purely for Promos (and occasional bargains) and to maintain diamond (otherwise I would probably give it a miss) however I prefer staying at the Hyatt - actually it has become one of my favourite hotels in Australia...

I wonder if the "complimentary food" is better than the existing flexi meals...... not that it would be difficult....

This has happened twice to me before when I really had to get another connection or had to get to a client site - constantly being advised boarding is soon but then delayed again and again (and incorrectly -" the plane will arrive in 40 minutes" - a check of the outgoing airport site shows it...

After a recent flight (Darwin -Perth) on VA I can tell you it was also the last - I had my bosses with me (visiting from the UK) and all our flights previously were QF around Australia and they were horrified that for a flight of nearly 4 hours there was only tea coffee or water AND the food...

Was driving past DM at Epping (Vic) for work - and can confirm they have 2 bottles left.. they did have more :D Now how to get them back to Sydney.....

Had this issue a few times. one option that works sometimes, use Qantas Hotels as they are sometimes the same as the Quest Direct special rates direct but you earn QFF points.

Recently stayed at the London Andaz and the Amsterdam Andaz. Chalk and Cheese. London room was not functional, diamond (GPP) recognition was very poor as was the room. Staff not helpful and check-in process is still dysfunctional. Unlikely to stay here again unless I needed the location...

Since I have reached Plat1 with QF with 2 months of unusable SC earn left, I have started re-directing some flights to VA in order to maintain Plat for the next year. Must admit haven't been all that impressed with about 5 out of 6 flights of late (all to or from PER) - checked bags not...
