    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Scored two Lady Gaga ArtPop Sydney concert tickets with backstage pass and dinner/drinks before :p and for once I am not travelling - which is usually the case with invites! YAY! Thanks QF - makes the 100s of dom Y flights (over the past few years) a bit more tolerable!

    Government Rates?

Ditto - have been asked for AAA or Gov ID at Hilton Perth, Brisbane, Darwin and Gold Coast - but not every time.

    Heads up about program changes

Indeed as a heavy domestic flyer it does impact me - BNE-TSV, SYD-HOB is now 20 and CNS-SYD is now 30. CNS-BNE is also 30.. mmmm... Of course to upgrade to CNS-SYD it is 10,000 points (flexi) of course 10,000 points is the same for SYD-PER but that is still 40SC. So that is fairer..;)

    Diamond Trial Offer

I got the diamond trial this year after not making diamond last year (well short). Although I did have to get special approval higher up in Hyatt HQ to get the trial (have been diamond a few times)- persistence paid off - and Hyatt won - to date this year 47 nights completed and 14 more in the...

VAQ threatens to pull out of BNE.

VA have the monopoly in southwest WA (via their purchase of SkyWest) and the results are similar - high fares and locals wanting deregulation. Of course in the case of Roma it is the lucrative FIFO $ but a media aimed dummy spit / threat to Qld is poor form from Mr Borghetti.

    Recent Decline of VA service

I know you are trying your best to defend VA lounge food (and disagreeing with anyone that thinks otherwise) but was in the Sydney VA lounge today and it was BORING. Although they did have tinned pineapple so I assume it will always be better than the QF J lounge.

Attn Red Roo - QP in GLT

Must admit I visited the QP in MKY this week and was pleasantly surprised - being post security it was an impressive regional lounge. RedRoo - please pass on my positive feedback! They had fresh bowls of fruit salad, yogurts, toast and a QP host! But I don't expect regional QPs to be anything...

    Recent Decline of VA service

Could not disagree more. Unless there is a mythical VA fine dining lounge somewhere in Sydney - every time I've been to VA Syd (and MEL, and BNE and PER) lounges I have been really disappointed with the food range and quality. I'm not that interested in hot food but I do want fresh salads...

Flex fares, only one change possible

I've changed flexi flight bookings multiple times online (before the first flight is taken) - in fact did it yesterday - that flight has changed 3 times. For other times when it is a return leg I have changed more than once online but sometimes the option is just not there (not sure why - maybe...

Virgin Australia forces a man to stand on transcon flight.

Whilst it does sound a little sensationalist - it could be the media making it more 'interesting'. There appears to be a few on here going for the jugular - but I suspect both sides are missing details. From my experience with VA they are not good at PR when things go wrong and he doesn't...

    Virgin Food [Flexi Fare]

The same thing happened to a colleague who flew SYD-PER - was told soft drinks are never complimentary and have to be paid for. So he asked for a wine and then passed it back later. Since he doesn't drink I asked why? -'that'll cost them more than me having nothing'. Last week I did a BNE-SYD...

When is a Flexi not a Flexi

Wanted to change my flexi last night after receiving an email advising my BNE-SYD flight was rescheduled and now leaving after the following flight . So I decided to move to the flight leaving 10-15min earlier. Go online (having not checked in yet) - What do you know "Sorry you cannot change...

    Jobs for Platinum one

    Heads up about program changes

The differnet earning of SC are not much different to the flexi saver/flexi now. The extra points for DOM (not that many in the scheme of things) seems fair to me- they are making a lot more money of of these flyers and this is who they want. Taking it off the discount economy and OW legs where...

    Heads up about program changes

Wow Qantas must have returned to some old ports! Sydney to Buenos Aires ? Sydney to San Francisco ? hmmm

    Thanks VA Staff

Great news - I tried a similar thing once (earlier direct flight) (not MEL lounge) and got 'the computer says no' but you can ring the call centre - which I did and yes I could for a significant fee -and that was a flexi ticket! That was about a year ago so maybe they have more options...

New QF Domestic Routes (MEL-CFS, SYD-HTI)

SYD-KTA-SYD flights have J cabin available to Platinums in economy- making it a great deal for a long haul domestic flight (of course you do have to go to KTA...). Suspect it will be the same for HVB They seem to be quite selective as to who gets in however- have been spare J seats but a fuller...

Double VFF Points (or SCs), April-June 2014

exactly the case for me - this offer is effectively for flights in May and June with a short time to book them. If you have a regular commute it would fine but my travel is decided about 2-3 weeks in advance and can be anywhere in Australia and many time 2-4 days notice so VAs Offers usually...
