Agree - I have found myself going back to the QF 737s in J to and from NZ rather than EK. Previous flights on EK have been underwhelming. I find QF better with service and food. Whilst seats are not as good obviously for such a short trip it does not really matter to me as I find the QF 737...

Great news. Hopefully Even as a VA WP I do lots of regional flights around NZ and not one AirNZ flight ever counts for points or SC with VA - even at the obscenely expensive pricing. So I am happy to give JQ a go if QF QC and points can be had.

The flip side is if you were paying for Fully Flex domestic fares - you would now typically be ahead on cost savings as the old flexi savers are quite a bit cheaper even with the $88 refund fee. I know we are actually saving money now for some staff!

Can you register like with QF Valet Parking ? - that was simple and in the end all they needed to know what flight I am coming back on. Everything else was sorted out. In Perth- in some cases they were ready for me before I even got to the valet counter in Perth. That is one of my frustrations...

Don't get me started on VA codeshare for internal NZ flights - every single flexi fare does not post and needs to be chased up, and up and up. 3 months is the record to date with a manual entry done at the end and marked as "bonus" ! VA - I don't like wasting my time chasing SC multiple times...

Agree - bag drop, check in, collecting your ticket - all require ID. As for carry on luggage - everything is weighed - even handbags, laptop bags etc so almost everyone has to end up checking in something. But they are a pretty good (old fashioned) airline and the DWN-TSV leg they do with QF...

As someone who has increased their domestic NZ flying recently - flying Air NZ domestic is completely useless if trying to get SC for VA. Of course an alternative is rather non-existent if doing regional flights. Oh well at least you get lounge access.
