Etihad Guest status match for Australian residents [improved offer as of 22/11/24]

It looks like the free gold (plat?) offer for AU has expired and now has a US $79 application fee. As with all these kinds of promos you gotta get in early or miss out! I gave EY Plat a whirl... the F lounge in AUH has an incredible menu!

Etihad Guest status match for Australian residents [improved offer as of 22/11/24]

A dual-airline strategy can be as follows: - Retain your VA status based on domestic travel - Try Etihad for one of the 1...2...3...4.. intl trips you do each year. Their prices are typically less than every other airline and if they make it easy to retain Gold/Plat, then why not? AUH (on EY)...

How long will QF use DSC promos - Your guess?

More likely, they'll wake up and realise that they can charge users a fee to opt in to double status credit promotions. Our company runs that exact tech/offer for another oneworld airline, performs extraordinarily well. Qantas - send me a DM

Kiwi Lawyer attempts to claim tax refund on $0 Jetstar fares

It seems he may have won if in a court and not via tribunal. He should have consulted Harvey Specter. "In a ruling released this week, the tribunal said while it may be that Barugh’s claim was “legally correct” it wouldn’t be in accordance with justice to award him the money." “Unlike in a...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Bookmark this post. DXB is only getting more crowded. EK Plat is more akin to QF Plat1 regarding effort/cost to attain.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Think reverse. How will QR Platinums feel if VA Platinums can enter DOH F ? For the same reason, I think QF Platinums might soon feel the pinch on EK.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Etihad also removed F check-in for their Plat members, in addition to selecting free economy seats. It might be a good thing that VA is moving to QR...as I doubt EY would give more benefits to partner FFPs over their own members... One observation is that Velocity's status pegging $$ to it more...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Short-term wins on both seats and bringing booking windows forward. The hangover of those offers is felt via Jaded members looking for more 6-12 months later. This is why both airlines continually run bonus SC promos the way they do. Easy to setup. Nobody in management questions the cost of...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Firstly, we must acknowledge that Virgin is primarily a Domestic airline, and its international partnerships are unpredictable and unsustainable without VA being part of a real alliance that provides a standard set benefit to passengers. My initial thought is that the changes feel consistent...

Fraud on Velocity Frequent Flyer accounts

So, through no fault of your own...they lock you out of your account... Can you earn points? Does your status work? Virgin Beyond

At $100K you're in the bottom 5% of the top 1%. The best you can do is go where you're treated best. Forget being loyal to an airline brand. Spread it out between the airlines, lock your Platinum status in, and call it a day. Don't bother contacting the airline about anything special until...

    status match

Many airlines have a 'once in a lifetime' policy with status matches. It's an oldskool airline management thing. New school thinking hasn't reached Australia yet. Give it a few years.

    Emirates wifi

I have no problem with EK fobbing off QF members. Wifi for economy class is based on your loyalty to EK Skywards. Frankly, I can't wait for the day that EK stops allowing QF Plats to enter the DXB F lounge. QF Plat is nowhere near as easy to achieve as EK Plat. They are not like-for-like.

Theft in lounges - how frequent?

If you leave your bag unattended in a lounge, you invite trouble -- *ESPECIALLY* in a western country. The same goes for unlocked bags in overhead lockers. Theft happens far more than you can imagine -- even in first class lounges.
