    Ask The Pilot

Slightly odd question jb747 however a recent thread of PPrune was talking about UK military food way back when a a contributor mentioned that BA crew in the early days they used to have drinks on the plane at the end of every flight from the bars. Wondering if things at QF were similarly quite...

This link shows me another person's QFF account details

As it looks like PII data is being leaked any QFF member in UK/EU can raise a request to ascertain if their data was exposed, and QF could be liable for a material fine up to 25 % of their global turnover. (Unlikely to be such a large fine for a first offence though!) (Id be surprised if QF...

Article: No Compensation for Qantas Catering Failures

How do you know its DNATA? They may have supplier issues of their own (ie labour hire companies) so it could be those DNATA suppliers we should be blaming... ..,of course in the real world Qantas is responsible. How they fulfil their service proposition is entirely up to them, including any...

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Perth - LHR will get the A350 according to an article on AustBT the other day With Syd, Mel and Per having daily(?) A350 flights thats 6 aircraft, leaving 4 for Syd/Mel - JFK and a couple more for spares and prehaps another route (BNE - DFW?)

Qantas Loses Appeal Over Alleged Illegal Sacking

The Qantas press release on this says they are saving $100m per year (opex) and $80m over 5 years (capex) by outsourcing?!?!? Seems huge, and hard to imagine why QF didnt progress these savings earlier if they are so material. I struggle to understand how QF could be so inefficient that an...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Not just pre Covid but QF have had some of those items on the menu for nearly 15 years.. Humpty Doo barramundi? First dish going back at least 10 years Salad of white cut chicken, wombok etc - I'm sure I've had that in F and J in 2007/2008 Same with Thai style fish cakes... Re Lunch on QF63...

    A nearly vacant LHR?

This is Google removing these, I've seen other airports too on Google with this. Not sure why they are doing this though!

BA has been banned from overflying Russia, is QF next?

JB - what discretion would a Captain have in situations like this? While QF would never knowingly fly over dangerous territory this is a unique situation - as mentioned on the other thread Russia could conceivably force a western aircraft to land and check/confirm paperwork etc as an act of...

How will Ukraine Situation affect travel

If Putin wants to further embarrass/harass the west all he needs to do is force a western aircraft to land due to "paperwork" issues and keep them for a day or so. An easy way to embarrass the west without itself escalating things too much would be to pick on a western country which really...

Do you pay for full-price business class tickets?

I remember the days when QF had very cheap F fares from the EU - fly BA to LHR, and then pick up the QF flight to SIN/BKK/HKG. About £2500 pounds ex Germany back in 2007/2008. Bargain compared to the domestic J prices quoted here!

Qantas Award ticket on EK - Denied Boarding GLA-DXB-BNE-SYD !

Princess - perhaps this may come under EU261 denied boarding compensation? Little Fokker - if the airline incorrectly denied you boarding, despite you having all correct paperwork/visas etc in hand then technically you were denied boarding due to the airline and in theory you could be eligible...

QF A380 back in service from January 11

Out of interest Milehighclub do you know how many crew QF had in the 1980s/1990s on the 747s? I'm surprised its only 20 cabin crew on the 380!

QF A380 back in service from January 11

Serfty - would they save money not operating that cabin, even if it was used to provide J service? Crew numbers would be the same no?

    Ask The Pilot

@jb747 any appreciable difference between flying the different models of the 747 classic? i.e. did the 747SP have different systems or processes compared to the 747-200?

Or, if it happened during one of the Antarctic sightseeing flights!

Legality [of Airports Blocking VA liveried Aircraft]

How does that make a difference? Qantas collected the airport charges from passengers and isnt passing it on. Regardless of their own profit(or not), using airport charges for working capital is not the purpose of airport charges! QF and Perth Airport currently under arbitration to determine...

Qantas - what will Coronavirus mean in the medium term?

This. (they could leave it going via Sin however given its a hotspot prehaps not) I think they may postpone the Chicago route, use the aircraft to go to LHR. US air travel declining similar to 9/11 levels.

Qantas Group Reducing services by effectively grounding 18 Aircraft due to Coronavirus

Not so radical....gov spends more on Super tax breaks than it "saves" by not paying aged pension to some, most of those tax breaks go to highest earners who would be saving for retirement anyway, and the Australian superannuation industry is one of the highest cost in the world compared to other...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

So no 2nd meal service as they couldnt keep the meals chilled? Was their milk with your muesli or no! I'd be pissed if this happened.

    Ask The Pilot

Thanks, I was more wondering about how they would have handled the Wuhan part of the trip! Presumably they had enough food/supplies for a few days if anything happened, I assume they'd be reluctant to leave the plane?
