    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Based on the comments of @jase05 in this thread, it will be a major freight hub, even without passengers. Workers are needed to serve freight operations. There's also the Airport Business Park (linked to the freight facilities?) that the metro line will serve a separate station to the...

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

It makes sense as in theory there are three options to managing displaced pax - JQ43/42, QF35/36 and QF37/38. It used be very common for JQ pax to be moved onto QF, or even EK back when they operated the route. Anecdotally though now it seems less likely to happen and even like today...

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Quite the opposite, I did mention a MCT of 60 hrs! In fact I am travelling on JQ7 on a Sunday with the hope of making "connection" to a separate ticket at Tuesday morning @ 9am . No way would I risk this "connection" from the Monday flight, 15 hrs is simply not long enough for separate...

And also in the catchment for those who will be working at the airport, or businesses nearby to the other stations on the line. It's not just about passengers.

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Good luck! 105 minutes in fine - either you will make it easily , or you'll miss it by a long shot! No in between. Although do notethe JQ7 flights that actually leave MEL on time often do a few laps over Batam before landing (as does QF35) due to ATC (congestion/storms etc). But looking...

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

I've been called away on a work trip so cutting short my usual January in Victoria to just the first week. So I am on JQ7 again in January. (SQ and QF were very high pricing and no award tickets of course). I'm probably playing a dangerous game though, as i've only allowed 39 hrs time...

Jetstar FlexPlus - plus being the operative word?

OK, I may have jumped the gun. But still worth knowing the process which is rather convoluted. I was able to have the vouchers applied to the new booking and the payment is being refunded to my mode of payment. So a few hoops and hurdles but it looks like it will work out as planned.

Jetstar FlexPlus - plus being the operative word?

Yes, I was aware of that happening with legacy carriers. With JQ, as origin and destination changes are allowed free of charge as well, I assumed changes related to the amount paid - which still must be for origin and/or destination changes - but seemingly not to changing date/time.

    What cheeses me off

They can charge a blended surcharge that in theory is not making them a profit. So someone paying by EFTPOS is charged the same amount as (and is subsidising ) someone paying with triple iridium (premium) card. Also lack of enforcement probably means some merchants do charge slightly higher...

Jetstar FlexPlus - plus being the operative word?

I understand Jetstar FlexPlus allows time and date changes (free of charge, subject to fare difference) and change of origination destination. However I did not understand that (supposedly) the underlying fare class is the driver for the fare difference - not the actual fare (rookie error that...

Article: Airlines Get Away With So Much By Fobbing Off Complaints

Was your hotel booking just one "room"? (i.e a single room number, regardless of how many rooms within the room number). There policy states "A$200 or local equivalent value per room booked reimbursement (receipts required)^" It penalises those with multiple occupants of a single "room"...

Which is the best airline to fly from Australia to Bali?

Going to DPS I agree and flip that coming back (which is what I was talking about to MEL).

Which is the best airline to fly from Australia to Bali?

Agreed. Especially coming back. Either it’s an overnight or you’ve got to get up really early to take the 7:20am flight out of Bali. TBH to MEL the morning Garuda departure or even the late morning or mid afternoon Jetstar options which get you there in 5.5hrs seems better (in an extra...

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

Unless they take exception with status runs and criticisms of American based hotel chains or American based carriers, AFF tends be very very neutral. Certainly doesn’t have people going down rabbit holes that could raise red flags.

Help with Taxes for Qantas Award booking

I think Philippine law has long since changed. I just checked Krisflyer awards, for a route with multiple star alliance options MNL-FRA. If on Singapore Airlines own metal, they don't charge fuel surcharges, as is the policy across their network. Same with Air India. Taxes come to about...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

TBH would never request a birthday cake for myself. Would for others but not myself. The only time I’ve ever had one was when my partner requested one for my 50th birthday - on the actual day - when we were travelling in First to FRA on SQ.

Jetstar NZ faulty baggage scales at WLG

Perhaps not quite so ingrained in the far western part of the country as it is elsewhere. But OP was at ZRH airport not GVA, so yes surprising.

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

Who's blaming the data? It might well be good data in the context of a frequent flyer forum, but I think in the context of a thread that has the title "Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA?", it really isn't helpful at all, and therefore rather meaningless.

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

When you see numbers thrown around like 20% (if it’s annual) I just don’t believe it. Unless there’s been some significant external factors - or major increases in capacity -you don’t get those sort of changes from year to year on major traffic routes.. Maybe it would be easier to believe for...
