DJ card is an alliance partnership between AMEX and David Jones, which means retention points must be approved by David Jones not only AMEX. AFAIK, it costs David Jones money to fund those points, and I believe DJ AEMX card is the only type that never offers any retention points.

Why would you think ANZ is a premium bank to deal with? Is that because they charge extra $55 rewards fee per card on their CC products which none of other banks in Australia does the same thing.

AMEX refunds annual fee in full if you cancel the card within 30 days after you get charged.
