Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

If you're the sort of flyer who would gun for LTP, it seems you would be better off shifting to BAEC once you hit LTG with QF. Saves putting all of your lifetime status eggs into one basket too.

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

No changes to LTG or LTS. LTP exactly as our insiders said. Some sort of 'status' based on annual points earn (probably a couple of lounge passes and 50sc is my bet). Keep the cash-printing machine fed

Qantas FF announcement 20 June - "biggest overhaul" in program history

Revenue based model is my guess too. It's clearly the direction that FF schemes are going.

Qantas schedules B747 on domestic routes from Nov'19 to Feb'20

Tempted to book a quick up and back award flight on one of the Melbourne to Sydney 747 flights. It will likely be the last chance I get to fly on the queen. Edit: question for the AFF brains trust- what are the odds of the specific domestic 747 flights changing between now and then?

Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

OT, but do you know what time window these unused slots are for? I would presume one of them would be the old midday QF9 arrival time

20k QFF Points for joining Australian Super

Noticed in my points statement the other day that I'm 20,000 points richer! Pretty happy with how easy this offer was.

What to do with My Platinum One Free Platinum Partner Offer

Never heard of anyone trading it back to QF for points. Should all else fail, it could be a forum giveaway for the ages!

One sector in premium, which would you choose?

I would prefer the departure sector. I would be able to get to my destination and bit the ground running. I find the return leg of any trip is always a huge blur for me anyway, and the outbound leg drags on forever, so I would much rather be aware enough to enjoy the experience.

    Worst cabin announcement

Virgin Blue CSM many years ago: "Unfortunately, the radios in your armrests are out of order. If you find yourself needing music to listen to, our cabin crew would be delighted to sing for you".

"The Surge" or... "People Are Crazy"

One of my favourite DYKWIA manoeuvres. Hang back 5 minutes and let the priority queue get processed, then once they're working through the conga line of NB's, you waltz right to the front, making sure you make eye contact with as many people as possible. Works best on VA where they're really...

    2018 F1 Thread

Never ventured into the OT subforum. The f1 fanatic in me is pretty pleased to see an F1 thread :) Great to see Raikkonen win in Austin. What's more, he's now pipped Mika Hakkinen to hold the record for most wins as a Finn with 21.

    Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

Hallelujah! I wonder if this will mean a slight lowering in standards at the existing lounge when it changes from an intl mixed class lounge to a J + QC lounge.

This is dinner on QF CNS - SYD

Don't know what you're complaining about. Looks pretty gourmet to me!

Virgin Australia posts underlying profit of $109M ($653M "loss" after writeoffs)

Large impairments, but $109M underlying profit up from -$3.7M last year. load factors and revenue per pax up in domestic business with $500M EBITDA. International not doing that well. Not entirely doom and gloom. You'd hope so considering they operate in a virtual duopoly though.

    Qantas Red Planet

Got project Citizens yesterday after a week of no surveys. 100 points for 5ish minutes. Pretty easy. Crossed the 4k point mark with that. Not as large a haul as some others here, but I'm still pretty happy with that from just under 3 months in the game :)

Additional Platinum luggage allowance ignored by check-in system

I agree. We've all read our fair share of rants and exaggerated recollections, but when a member of 13 years with 40k posts raises an issue, it's probably best to listen.

Airline load factors to/from Australia for March 2018

Thanks for going through the numbers for us Matt :) Lots of really interesting bits and pieces you posted. I had no idea that the QF Chile flights got such massive loads. I always thought that if it was only 3x per week, it was just breaking even for them. I wonder if we'll be seeing an...

    40% off Qantas Club

Something I discovered a while back: if you don't have access to a QP corporate scheme through your employer, have a look at your university's alumni page- Monash for instance, run corporate schemes that give pretty hefty discounts- $250 joining fee and $350 a year in their case

    Ask The Pilot

Hi JB. Longtime reader of this thread. You've made your thoughts on EK clear in past posts, but I still would like to ask you- As someone who's flown the MEL-DXB sector quite a bit, what would the fatigue situation be like for the guys at the controls, since it's come out that EK will be...
