Do not fly QF much these days but have a stash of points. Just got an alert saying they are about to expire. Might usually grab a domestic flight to keep the active but that is not happening now. No credit cards or anything else linked to QF. I can't seem to see whether if I just buy 1000 points...

SQ wanting $4k+ for a trip to Sin in J is putting me off. Virgin for $3k to HKG is not so bad but need some ideas of destinations to go post that for a beach holiday perhaps?

Since when is any corporate entity honourable? It's about making money. CX is no different to any other entity trading with China or any other jurisdiction for that matter.

Just thought I would add some pricing if it helps (from Google Flights). MNL to AMS on 24 Dec and back on 13 Jan for $2626 Interestingly the price for CX and SQ has dropped as well to $3405 and $3838 respectively. Getting to MNL still proving to be a challenge for an reasonable price even in Y.

Looks like some fares have opened up from CGK as well.

So far I've found variants on QR to MXP, FCO and for a slightly higher price to MAD in or around Xmas if it helps.

Very interested to hear about the Oz to US via Qatar angle. Looking at some flights recently to the US and the option (cheaper) to go with Qatar or JAL to the US presented itself.
