Qantas A380 refurbishment news and updates

Simply hasn't yet been repainted yet. OQI is a Jan 2011 delivery so the paint job is coming up on 15yrs. Also a number of 332, 333 and 738s still carrying the older 2007-2016 livery. On OQC possibly some more maintenance that couldnt be conducted in LAX. On the SydSquad livestream a poster...

Second Test, Australia v England, 4-8 December 2025

Poms going to lose a lot of match fee (and championship points) if Australia can bat for 7 overs

    Qantas A380 New Route Speculation

Given they happily parted out the younger OQE and OQF, don't see that being an issue

Sadly from the SydSquad video that work didn't include adding the satellite hump.

And VH-OQC is home. Sadly hasn't been fitted with a satellite hump.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

And another reason not to be there at the start. WSI Metro now looking like December 2027 opening.. and the state government's known for some time. https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/what-sydney-metro-actually-knew-about-delays-to-new-airport-rail-line-20251201-p5njup.html

Is it possible to return from SE Asia to East Coast AUS on day flights?

Note that's for a "minimum viable product" Ie. How cheaply can we alter the current sleeper cars and tow them with the new EMU sets.

    Qantas A380 New Route Speculation

Qf had always struggled with routes for #11 and #12 flipping between HKG, SIN potential ORD/ SEA but never quite for it too work, so I actually think the decision was reasonable. And once the Sunrise 350s start arriving (alongside other 350/787s) we may well see future other 'early'...

Qantas Denial of OW Emerald access to Sydney First Lounge

The problem is if you aren't crediting to QF then they aren't earning any money for it either, so why should they take a loss for lounge access. My understanding with Oneworld is the carrier being credited to gets a small percentage of the fare, and the operating carrier (as the major earner)...

QFi to QFd aircraft transfers (or vice versa)

Might also be a function of earlier switches. Think SYD-MNL-SYD is generally a 333 though often first to be swapped for a 332. Can always take a while to tow across the active SYD runways. Indeed I suspect this is probably why QF is probably supportive of SYD airports T2/T3 connector and I...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Agree. But arguably we are better starting with less airlines and a decent frequency, rather than multiple airlines only flying once or twice a day. I'm sure VA will open at WSI within the first 5yrs and get all the publicity associated to themselves.

So to summarise. 332 - All but EBP EBQ 333 - unclear appears QPA QPH I J have humps but not necessarily switched on. QPF in AUH 787 - ZNJ. ZNK in HKG.

Qantas Denial of OW Emerald access to Sydney First Lounge

Definitely not the case. It's always been subject to a number of conditions, including lounge capacity, as well as having an eligible booking (eg. Oneworld or JQ ticket). In this case if the QF lounge can't attach the relevant high status FF number to the booking, it would be like you flying...

Qantas Denial of OW Emerald access to Sydney First Lounge

Undoubtedly a part of Cathay's new war on attempting to prevent people using two FF cards and splitting benefits - Cathay Pacific to stop FF changing after check in (And I'd refer to it more as splitting benefits rather than double dipping) Suspect QF lounge staff have been told that the lounge...
