Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

Exactly. It only applies to flights landing in Australia. And it doesn't apply to other flights who spend several hours crossing Australia including right over Sydney. I guess having another 3 hrs crossing the Tasman substantially reduces the security risk.

    Best Hotel you have stayed!!!

Without thinking about it at all, both the Conrad Tokyo and Conrad Macau came to mind. In terms of genuinely unique and amazing location, Sossussvlei Lodge in Namibia. Not quite the Raffles or the Ritz in terms of polished service and attending to your every need - we don't need that anyway.

Help with multi city flights BNE to Asia and return.

Agreed. Was going to suggest MH. Alternatively could do SQ: 1. Brisbane-Singapore-KL on SQ 2. Then buy separate one way sector from KL-HCMC, there are four carriers operating on this route (2 legacy - Malaysia and Vietnam Airlines, 2LCC - Vietjet and Air Asia). 3. Siem Reap - Singapore -...

    What cheeses me off

You get someone else to pick up your Apple order (as in technology, not the fruit) , that you ordered from your account (because you aren't around to do so), not only does the invoice generated populate the "Ship To Customer" field with the name of the person collecting the order but it also...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

SQ has such an amazing advantage in it's home market. Latest round of sales Y fares from MEL to SIN return are $750 AUD but here in SIN the equivalent lowest fares I can find in the opposite direction (SIN-MEL return) of $1060 AUD return. By contrast QF have a fare SIN-MEL return...

    What cheeses me off

Straight out of the airline "enhancement" playbook? (my bolding). Fine with the change but was the last sentence really necessary (#WCMO)? It doesn't sound like an improvement me.

Which are your 5 favourite airlines - and why?

It really is horses for courses based on cabin class, routes, preferences etc. Never flown QR (apart from a fifth freedom return in Y from SIN-DPS well before they joined oneworld), so can't really comment on them, being based in Singapore, the ME3 don't really get a look in from me, as the...

    What cheeses me off

The Americanisation of the world as manifested at this time of the year by promoting faux sales based on tomorrow which has zero cultural significance anywhere else. Sick of hearing the two words, which when growing up had more to do with some tragic bushfires than rampant consumerism. End of...

    QF32 (A380) returns for 1 (?) flight. SIN-MEL 1st December 2025.

At the end of a day fortunately it was just an incident with no loss of life. Like QF1, QF30 and QF72 and of course they are still used. It’s probably only those involved and aviation geeks that would remember. Different scenario to fatal incidents. Not sure that too many people (in their...

    What cheeses me off

This is also useful public transport, works well on readers here in Singapore (or I did until it stopped working properly). The only thing I swapped from wearing my watch on the left hand to right hand, partly because the readers at train stations are on the right.

    Singapore (SIN) Stopover Tips

As long as there’s enough time to collect and get to SQ checkin before checkin closes allowing for modest flight delay of course. (SQ counter at DRW closes 40 mins before departure).

    What's your Uber experience?

It would be naive to think otherwise, that a tech company doesn't take about 1/4-1/3 at every opportunity they have to do so!

    Singapore (SIN) Stopover Tips

As VA don't have an interline/through checking agreement with AF, I don't think tagging through from BNE will work. Sounds like hitting the transfer desk at SIN would be the best option, with Plan B clearing immigration and re-checking - 4 hours should be plenty of time. The other option...

Jetstar no longer selling Max bundle in Economy

Also just noticed on MEL/AVV-SYD and SYD-BNE they've removed Flex and added a lower tier bundle the"Mini" that has free seat selection and same day changes. So no option of a bundle with 14kg of hand luggage there. You want that you pay extra. And only one option for earning points now - the...

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

On SYD-CBR mainly? On MEL-SYD I can't see it making much of a difference, but perhaps for intermediate towns. Flixbus or not, I think for many people bus is a distant 3rd behind planes and trains.

    Singapore restaurants

If you like Indian food, we’ve found Amrith By Song of India to be superb. Modern setting and kitchen is run by the chef from the Michelin starred “Song of India” which is closed whilst the bungalow it occupied is being renovated. Alcohol prices also very reasonable for Singapore (eg $12++...

United Airlines argues ‘window seat’ does not mean ‘seat with a window’

We can have arguments one way or another. But really, I'm afraid no airline sells true window seats , except maybe some carriers in First. (image courtesy of AI of course).

Iberia Airlines - Refund Approved But Cant Pay

But it is also in the realms of possibility that it could be done via a Routing/ACH Number and Account Number as a lot of bank transfers are done in the US. If they were able to do it to a US debit card, wouldn't they just say that? All I'm saying is that the Swift Number may have just...

Iberia Airlines - Refund Approved But Cant Pay

But you said they only pay out to US issued debit cards, that is different to paying out to US bank account. Two different mechanisms of payment, one obviously easier than others. Wise has a US bank account set up for account holders via with all the parameters of a US bank account...
