Cairns short layover domestic to international

Maybe. But from somewhere like Cairns, it gets more difficult and complicated., and increases likelihood of luggage separation. Also depends on number of travellers (it's easier for example, for the airlines to find alternate seats for a solo traveller as opposed to a family group). Lastly the...

Cairns short layover domestic to international

That's the important bit. OP what is the impact on your travel arrangements if you miss the onward connections to LAX, and are re-accomodated on another flight a day or two later?

What on earth was this aircraft doing?

Ah yes, given the 3am aspect, that seems a better explanation than aerial photography. Airspace would be nice and clear at that time of day. Terrain radar doesn't care that it's in pitch darkness. Impressed that plane can stay aloft that long.

What on earth was this aircraft doing?

The mrs said she heard an aircraft buzzing around repeatedly at something like 3am. This isn't normally a thing in Sydney due to curfews. When I got up, I took a look at FR24 and found this extremely unusual flight track. Any ideas what this might have been upto? It looks a bit like a missing...

Crazy Expensive Xmas Direct fares to Japan

I think the mask mandates continued well into 2023. One of the last countries in the world to do so from memory.

QF105 MEL HNL March 2026 cancelled

Isn't that what I was saying though? This year April contains both the easter break and the school holidays. Hawaii skews more towards holiday than business travellers, and is popular with family travellers who can only travel in school holidays. Hence April busy, May slow.. Aren't we saying...

QF105 MEL HNL March 2026 cancelled

April is Easter + AU school holidays. Hawaii is quite peaky around school holidays. I'd imagine a significant drop off in demand in May

Should we credit to QFF or EK Skywards

Just updating this thread with some info in case someone else has a similar query in future. I ended up deciding to credit these flights to our Skywards accounts instead of our QFF numbers. This was not possible online, so I rang up and they removed the QFF #'s and replaced with the Skywards...

    Xmas day in Oslo

Also note, in most of Europe, Christmas is generally celebrated on Xmas eve. It might be worth seeing if you can book an xmas eve dinner if you can't find any options for a lunch on xmas day. Also as MelTraveller suggested, try booking a restaurant inside one of the main 5 star hotels. These...

Crazy Expensive Xmas Direct fares to Japan

I dont think that's a factor. It's a bad figure, but 3.8% inflation is a drop in the ocean when you are talking airfares up to 3 times "normal" price. That's seasonal factors and close to departure date prices. Push things out to late January departures, and a different destination with...

Crazy Expensive Xmas Direct fares to Japan

Confluence of the usual factors mean it's peak demand on the AU-JP route. None of these are new though, it's been happening for several years now. Watch the prices drop off in Feb and March. Japanese ski season AU School Holidays Weak JPY. This is a big one. the AUD is doing poorly against...

Delayed bags - is anyone able to speak Qantasesque?

It's very useful for the OP's question. This bit If you're tracking the AirTags, you can see: When the bags have reached your town/city When they are moving around on the public roads in that town (ie: likely out for delivery in a van) and, When they have reached your hotel (in case...

Delayed bags - is anyone able to speak Qantasesque?

Good to hear you have been reunited. Not going to help this time of course, but going forward, I'd highly recommend throwing an airtag in each bag.

Use of lithium Batteries for medical equipment on board

Ok thanks, understood. I'll know of these machines, but never really knew what they were for, and how life and death critical they are. Even as a non CPAP user, if my priority is sleep in flight, Scoot wouldn't be high on my list of airlines!

Use of lithium Batteries for medical equipment on board

How long can people who need these devices be without them? Is it a matter of hours or days etc?

Use of lithium Batteries for medical equipment on board

Out of curiosity, what was the workaround for long haul travel before CPAP machines?

Lithium Powerbank Ignites in Qantas Lounge

I recall Rusty Crowe threw a massive tanty when told he couldn't bring hoverboards on the plane https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3380749/Russell-Crowe-goes-Twitter-rant-Virgin-Australia-days-airline-refused-let-board-flight-children-s-new-hoverboards.html

Not because of the cheese itself, but rather certain types of explosive material can be made to look like soft cheese.
