Did Qantas Just order additional 12 787s (or is it Old news)?

Exactly, and for those who who like to blame the Airbus fly-by-wire as putting too much control in the hands of automation, it's worth noting a similar incident occurred on a B777 as well, which is not as well known - Malaysia Airlines Flight 124 on 1 August 2005, a Perth to Kuala Lumpur flight...

    Transit thru Changi

Hi ferntree, just a small terminology note, on forums like this and in the travel industry in general, Singapore Airlines is normally referred to as SQ (their IATA airline code) or SIA (their ICAO airline code and corporate abbreviation). SA is a two-letter code for South African Airlines...

Is this the new norm? [Qantaslink Cabin crew won't ask passengers not to recline during meal service]

Flew recently LAX-SYD on DL economy (which was doubly painful as had I been able to afford QF on this trip, I might have kept my WP), and the process of cabin crew encouraging or even enforcing this during mealtimes is something I did miss from QF(*). I am not the smallest guy around and need...

United Airlines new Virgin Australia/Velocity Partner

Don't get operating subsidiaries and codeshare mixed up, these are two different things entirely. Flights to Cody and other smaller airports that are under discussion here use UA codes and are treated completely as UA for revenue purposes, thus reward seats may be available, even though they...

    Delta Airlines Delays/Cancellations

I was on DL40 (SYD-LAX) departing Saturday 23 Dec. The flight was only 45 minutes late into LAX which isn't notable on its own, however if you check the radar you can see we tracked towards HNL for a time. This was due to a medical emergency , however the diversion was later cancelled and we...

    Delta Airlines Delays/Cancellations

I was on DL40 departing Saturday (SYD-LAX); only 45 minutes late into LAX but that doesn't tell the whole story. We had a medical emergency onboard and started diverting towards HNL. About an hour or two after the re-route, the captain announced the diversion was no longer required and we would...

At Sydney Airport it would be Heinemann Duty Free, they operate every duty-free storefront.

    Platinum Newsletter

Google's Bard gave me some poetry: "Notre Dame's hush - secrets whispered in stone, echoes of saints and kings unknown." Not that you can actually visit Notre Dame right now, haha.

    Stopover in Bangalore

Great to hear things are working well with the new terminal and bridge connection from the Taj at T1. Changing terminals for the QF->6E connection is a small hassle but seems they have minimised it - I assume the shuttle bus doesn't get caught in traffic?

    Are Jetstar really that bad??

I haven't been so active on AFF recently, but came back to this thread today and scrolled past this photo quickly, saw I was in the Jetstar thread, and was like - wtf, how did you get that kind of spread on Jetstar? Glad there's not actually a rift in the space-time continuum...

    Qantas redemption booking woes

No, emailing will not help, they won't answer regrading booking issues and they will take weeks to respond if they do at all. You really need to secure that BNE-LAX flight *now.* Every minute that you're here talking about it is another minute that someone will grab it before you...

    Qantas redemption booking woes

What level of FF with Qantas are you? You can just book the BNE-LAX segment now, and then try your luck at getting Hobart/Auckland call centres to add the MEL-BNE segment later. They are seemingly the only ones with the right access to make this kind of change, it will always shows as "no...

    Qantas fleet rebuild piece

I thought those were all for Jetstar? Not aware of any plans for QF to use A320 on standard domestic operations. The A321-XLR's are targeted for FY25 and are intended primarily for international, though as discussed above they could be used on PER flights too, as they are basically an A330...

    Delhi Airport (DEL) Transit Experinces

No, I should indicate that it's commonly misunderstood by foreigners, I have gotten the above information from my Indian colleagues (and confirmed on Wiki just now).

    Delhi Airport (DEL) Transit Experinces

Yes, this is commonly misunderstood, it's a uniformed service but not military. The arrangement is actually similar to the USA's TSA in that it's a nationally run uniformed airport security force. They are a division of the federal police and provide similar security services to various...

    Booking AirBnB through Qantas website

I really I do find it annoying however, when Qantas gives you what you're entitled to but claims it's just a "gesture of goodwill." No, finally adhering to your advertised service, after continued follow-up is not a measure of goodwill at all.

Buying an iPhone at Sydney airport Duty Free

I did actually try to do that, but for some reason the edit button is not showing for that post. Apologies that I didn't make the clarification that my comments were valid if individual and worth over $900.

    OneWorld Connecting Flight Baggage Rules

Your baggage allowance should actually be indicated on your e-tickets, have you checked that? Since the tickets are on separate itineraries, there's no "most significant carrier" rule or anything like that, if that's what you're hoping for. The baggage allowances apply individually. These...

Is this the new norm? [Qantaslink Cabin crew won't ask passengers not to recline during meal service]

Do you mean the "shell" type that recline within the seat without affecting the shell and thus the passenger behind? Cathay Pacific has these and I found them quite uncomfortable - no lower back support when reclined.
