They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

    No, permanent (for now).

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

I think your definition of 'loyalty' is a bit more extreme than in general. Your definition seems to be that you must stay with someone regardless of how you're treated. Whereas I think people are more pragmatic - loyalty is more about the current offering. If you reset/change the config, then...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Lite fares are 0 baggage included, regardless of status. https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/baggage/checked-baggage

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

A carry on is the same between them (7kg each), a bag is something many don't need and those that do would account for it in their comparison (e.g. becomes ~$120 in comparison above). I doubt many bother about seat pitch or tea, or would just put them in nice to have, but not worth $50+. I'm...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Except... if all you're competing on is price, then the overwhelming advantage shifts to Jet*. So QF still has that covered. While many customers were actually after value rather than price i.e. perks and bennies from status, if that carrot has been removed then you're just looking at the best...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

I look at it the other way. Just because the flight is a good price, most people don't fly every day, so it should have more SC value than just an everyday shopping trip to Coles.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

More sophistry from Mr Rohrlach. In those rare cases someone has purchased a Flex ticket when a cheaper Business class ticket was available, it means more likely: 1) the ticket was chosen under company policies, that did not permit a business class ticket purchase but needed flexibility - in...

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

No, they'll lose money on the individual transaction as they're giving away a free cruise. That said, it's because they're fully booked so equally they're not doing it tough. And usually these emails are spread to a large group, not based on price (but may be other conditions).

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Most people don't only book J fares domestically though. And if they do, gold status has marginal benefits for them - and isn't likely the incentive getting them to book. So the program changes aren't likely for that market.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Haven't seen anyone assume that - the reference is just the new benchmark to earn, just as if the program had changed to require 2500 SCs for Gold that would be how people refer to it, regardless of any other temporary offers or bonuses that may arise. Plus even under the current (old) program...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Of course it's up to them - but it's in their interest. If they were to discard all the flights people had previously taken, so you had to start from 0, people would be ticked off and just as inclined to start from 0 with QF. After all - they don't lose anything by leaving but VA would have...

    Cruise line loyalty programs

Not all. Some terminate entirely without activity, and for others status is only gained with recent cruises. But a fair number have lifetime status.

VA second hand sales don't really exist any more?

A lot of the credit you saw arose since 2020 from covid cancellations, and associated policies allowing cancellation.

AI will be the end of forums like AFF, FlyerTalk etc

You can see it happening already on X (twitter), where many 'train' their AI bots. Some article/story will be posted. Then another poster will post basically the same content, but reworded in AI speak. Sometimes you do see them try to engage in a discussion. As useless as standard AI, but it...

Flight Centre - need advice please

Are there any other expenses/purchases to be made on her holiday? e.g. hotels, or attractions/theme parks/tickets? If so, it may be better to purchase the other services through Flight Centre and then you can still book the flights online yourself instead. Airlines have cut their commission to...

    Incredible Asia-Australia reward routings

The VA leg is priced separately from the UA legs i.e. priced as 2 separate redemptions when there are multiple carriers then added together.

    General Cruise Discussion

Very much. They weren't previously included on Celebrity or Royal either, but they changed that about a decade or so ago. Still other mainstream cruiselines here don't include tips so you still pay them extra onboard such as NCL, Cunard and some others.

    General Cruise Discussion

I wouldn't put any in LCC (maybe overseas ferries would be closest). Any cruise line you'll still always get the essential basics so there's nothing you /have/ to pay for. Luggage is included. Meals included. Entertainment and so on. It's just the degree of optional extras, so P&O+ would be...

    Skyscanner cheap flight booking sites

Yes - that you don't expect to need to make any changes, and that if you do need to, you accept it will cost more, and be more hassle than if you booked direct.

Finnair Luggage money grab or scam?? [Luggage]

This is the part of your post that is correct. As per Equus post, you don't get a baggage allowance based on Qantas, with Finnair. You get it because of your oneworld status. Which is sapphire. And as Equus wrote, this is one piece extra on 'piece' based trips. This is the confirmation of the...
