Each lock is 233.5 metres long (766 feet), 24.4 metres wide (80 feet) and 9.1 metres deep (30 feet) over the sill. A lock fills with approximately...

Thursday afternoon's office was a three vineyard tour of the Niagara on the Lakes wine region. The region produces cool climate wines (akin to the Canberra region) that includes ice wine which we purchased a couple of bottles of to take home. We're working our way through to the rest 🙂...

Yep. The guide said a control dam was built in the 50's to control the flow of water to the power stations. It opens early in the morning to let water flow over the falls and closed at night to redirect the flows to the power stations.

Then a boat ride to the bottom of the falls or as close as we could get. we got soaked. Brilliant! Horseshoe Falls is approx 180 ft (55 Mtrs) high. The spray goes past the drop height and then much further into the air. The volume of water going over is 169,000 cubic metres per second. It's a...

We did Niagara Falls on Wednesday and strip away the kitsch, the Falls was well worth the visit. We did a guided tour that took us behind the falls, a boat ride to the bottom of the falls etc. We're not fans of guided tours but this was well worth it. The guide was engaging, fast tracked through...

Dinner last night in Vancouver was at the Craft Beer Market (English Bay). There's a bucket load of local beers to choose from and to help decide, they do free tasters - got eight decent shots of beer for nuffin! Food was excellent, typical pub gun but tasty and generous. Best of all was the sun...

Tonight's office is AKL International for our flight to Vancouver. Flight's delayed by two hours and Air NZ gave us $30 meal vouchers each. Happy with that! Tonight's dinner, chicken laksa and fried won tons. Reasonable enough but the laksa stalls at the Parap Markets in Darwin won't be...

..so in the end we spent NZ$100 for the four of us on drinks - three coughtails and two beers. Also had our parking validated that saved us $20. Much cheaper than going to Sky Deck, get the same awesome views and way less crowded.. Looking over the Waitemata Harbour looking over harbour bridge...

Long story short and a tip for those wanting to do Sky Tower, go to the Sky Bar instead of the observation deck. Was...
