What do you mean? Based on my reading, Amex add 1% to the FX rate so they’re really charging 1% FX fee in a no FX fee product. Agree, that is misleading. Amex would earn an extra 1% over and above the FX rate.

Didn’t get one for HSBC. This is the first time I’ve got one of these. Might have to refer to using HSBC as my US transactional (checking) account t if ITIN is problematic for getting checking accounts.

Did you go to the very end of the application? I think the issue with C1 will be they’ll want US govt issued ID. You might have got that covered already - that’s where my application fell over. I was approved for the Venture but I didn’t have US govt issued ID so my application lapsed.

Agree the $250 MC GC will cheaper to use now. I’m wondering that now part of the business case for these cards will be broken whether they’ll keep having regular ‘sales’. It’s already hard enough to use them with the 5x a day payment limit with the ATO in their ever constant battle to fight...

I guess that’s what funds our rewards which is why we prefer to use Amex over other cards in our wallet but agree now that those costs are being passed onto consumers … I guess there’s pause to consider.
