    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I’m just in my way back from NY and catching up on everything. I thought my experience might be interesting to some. I went to get my non driver ID so I could have another crack at applying with C1. Unfort I went on the wrong day though they checked and said my AU passport and HSBC US statement...

Can I use a personal Amex platinum for business?

It’s a little underwhelming compared to urban legend. It will support your spend to $A250k based on usual charge card usage like always. Above that, you need to submit your financials for a credit assessment. I’m told this only lasts for 12 months before you have to do it again. I’m thinking an...

Amex Centurion Card eligibility in Australia

There’s a range of RMs some more helpful than others. You can request a new one if you don’t click with the one you have. They can’t walk on water or access all the urban legends. It’s basically a trophy card with some extra services for travelers and marginally extra points earn. Gotta spend a...

Amex Centurion Card eligibility in Australia

What do you mean? Based on my reading, Amex add 1% to the FX rate so they’re really charging 1% FX fee in a no FX fee product. Agree, that is misleading. Amex would earn an extra 1% over and above the FX rate.

Amex Centurion Card eligibility in Australia

I think like anything, card issuers will price to the market. If the majority of card issuers still charge it, then aside from niche providers, these fees aren’t going anywhere. In the US, there are lots of cards which don’t charge it so it’s not exceptional to find this feature across their...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Shame the AUD is falling like a stone, the advantage of this process is fast eroding … faster if AMex somehow nerfs it.

    David Jones: AMEX to Latitude

I applied for it speculatively expecting airline partners. I’ll have to re think it otherwise. The initial credit limit was very small and they encouraged me to apply for an increase after 6 months … I’m not so sure I will do that now.

Which Credit Card can you use at Australia Post?

I remember I once made a payment with a Westfield eftpos GC at another PO and the lady realized and frantically tried to stop it. She was in a panic as if she was going to lose her job or be read the riot act.

Which Credit Card can you use at Australia Post?

My local doesn’t allow GC even mc/Visa branded cards from being used for bill payments. They heavily enforce it.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Didn’t get one for HSBC. This is the first time I’ve got one of these. Might have to refer to using HSBC as my US transactional (checking) account t if ITIN is problematic for getting checking accounts.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I did also recently get a W9 form from Amex re my checking and HY savings accounts. Has anyone else received one of these? How did you respond?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Did you go to the very end of the application? I think the issue with C1 will be they’ll want US govt issued ID. You might have got that covered already - that’s where my application fell over. I was approved for the Venture but I didn’t have US govt issued ID so my application lapsed.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Agree the $250 MC GC will cheaper to use now. I’m wondering that now part of the business case for these cards will be broken whether they’ll keep having regular ‘sales’. It’s already hard enough to use them with the 5x a day payment limit with the ATO in their ever constant battle to fight...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll give it a go. Will likely drag the kids along with me. They will kill me if we have to go back hehehe Btw is there a number we can call to get clear on this? I’ve sent them a message online but believe might be more productive to give them a call especially since...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

So I was going to make an appointment with NY DMV when I’m there early next year to get non DL ID to have one final crack at C1. Sounds like it’s a non-starter?

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Have you found any stock? A Woolies I visited last night had $50 & $100 MC (higher value were gone) and 2 maximum load visa though they’re not part of the promotion. Seems the early bird gets the worm as they say.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I was shut down by Wise even before I could move any money through them. Reading others' experiences on here, I won't pursue an appeal - doesn't seem like a business to trust. I can understand they will shut down anyone whose business threatens their financial license which is fair enough after...

    Putting Amex Into credit?

I’ve done it in the past with Explorer rapidly spending up to the limit and paying it down multiple times during the cycle. I’ve now since switched to a charge card so don’t need to do this anymore. Though the US charge cards seem much more generous with their shadow limit. I got a call recently...

    Putting Amex Into credit?

I guess that’s what funds our rewards which is why we prefer to use Amex over other cards in our wallet but agree now that those costs are being passed onto consumers … I guess there’s pause to consider.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Does Coles have variable load cards? I know Woolies does though they were mysteriously not available during the rewards promotion. Good luck to those who got them. The Coles $250 promo is good though I’d be interested in DP about larger load options as the $250 are great but a reasonable time...
