    Strategy to obtain US Amex

That’s what I thought. How do we unlock these credits specifically get them back as they’re valuable benefits tho assumed much like US specific retailers, outside of our reach. I won’t be disappointed if I needn’t wait an hour to get into to US next time I travel there either.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

And going to court will cost money in legal fees which would outweigh the likely reason for using the Coles MC GC as a payment source. You're fighting the government which likely has more financial resources than you do to fund endless litigation.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

The ATO under the guise of "fighting money laundering" have been withholding credits until there's enough tax payable to offset them. I think they eventually will entertain a refund depending on the persuasiveness of your accountant. It not longer works as a place to turn these back into cash...

HSBC increasing credit card annual fees on 11/3/25

Reads to me like an annual cap once you reach $120K spend: https://www.hsbc.com.au/credit-cards/products/premier/ This is the case for either QFF or HSBC Rewards Plus variants.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for sharing. Good to hear you got over the line with C1. Which C! CC do you have? My application fell over with no accepting AU Passport as "state ID", they insisted and wouldn't budge (even by HUACA over several weeks) that it needed to be US govt issued ID only - though they said they...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

I've got CCs with HSBC outside of AU where I'm Premier - was quite easy. UK was a little more difficult, they wouldn't do it for non-residents but if you're with Expat, you get a HSBC UK CC. Admittedly, the limit is pretty low (in my case anyway) so YMMV.

HSBC increasing credit card annual fees on 11/3/25

I agree, there's not much in the market. Was looking around to add some cards to my "portfolio" after a dry spell of applications having cancelled a number of cards to qualify for my home loan, I think I'll reluctantly be sticking with my HSBC card. Some of the AF's being charged by some reward...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

FWIW it may cruel my chances but I've still got access to mobile banking. I've initiated a transfer of funds out of my Chase Checking to my Citi account. I'll give the banker a call tomorrow and see what happens but I want to send Chase a message I'm not going into the branch and I'm going to...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I called the Fraud department - they won't budge - I need to visit a branch with 2 forms of ID and my telling the Agent on the phone that that's what I did at account inception and I'm not inclined to do it again does not sway them. I'm not planning to go to the US again for some time. I'm...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I hope Chase has tolerance for wayward customers - especially those who use their card on ApplePay in AUD outside the US. Fingers crossed I guess ...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

yep. Have the Platinum Charge card. Was thinking of cancelling it after the first year as I hardly use it and that will allocate additional AF budget to other cards/help my budget generally. I'm thinking of keeping it as a pathway to "easier" revenue tickets paid for with points via Amex Travel...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

What's the difference between the Customer Protection Team and the Fraud team in their requirements to unlock? I can completely understand why my maiden activity being on ApplePay, outside the US, etc would likely be an issue. Maybe I'm just minimising it as I'm biased, isn't that what might be...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I think what you say there makes complete sense. Hopefully I haven't done irreparable damage. I'll give them a call tonight AEST.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Not yet. Sounds like it’s an illusory benefit to have the card in ApplePay before you get the physical card to customers if those purchases are going to be blocked. Hope that’s all it is …

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Further update. Chase: I tried to make a start in my SUB spend with the card on ApplePay at Officeworks and it declined. I called & the agent I spoke to said my account was under review and she can’t do anything further. Try with a different payment method and call back during the week. Was...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Just trying to get clear, does CSP get 3x supermarket spend category at giftcards.com.au - shows as "COLES GROUP LIMITED - H HAWTHORN EAST" on my Amex AU statement and I'm aware it does qualify as "supermarket" spend for AMEX Edge card in AU.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I think the main one is to ensure it doesn't appear on an CMRA list as that will automatically get flagged and your application rejected. This now appears to be the case with our much used Florida address - C1 would open a checking account (which they subsequently shut down without explanation)...

I agree. It's a labour of love and reasonable time commitment but the prospective rewards are worth it.

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

I think in relation to this that all charge cards have the same line of credit - just different features (ie "coupon book" of Platinum) and different points earn rates. I'd have a think about whether the earn difference makes a difference for your big tax bill (the AF is substantial difference)...
