Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

I think the gates in Japan don't actually deny you if you're in the wrong group (often boarded with friends on seperate tickets, expecting them to be declined, but it's fine). They just make a different noise for each status tier. I think there's like 2 different noises for JAL and 3 for ANA.

    How to confirm refund amount?

Also to OP: I'm genuinely surprised you got any refund at all! If your original booking was a return ticket, I would've expected re-pricing the 3 flown flights as one-way would've exceeded the cost you paid for your ticket, thus resulting in no refund.

    How to confirm refund amount?

Would it be too much to expect someone working at an airline call centre to realise that a 90% refund for a ¾ flown ticket might be an error, and to double check with their supervisor etc. before giving the customer potentially wrong information? Evidently yes, at least at Qantas/Mindpearl

Cancelling award booking made using ̶𝑸̶𝑭̶[Velocity?] for UA

Did you mean Velocity Points? I don't think you can book Polaris with Qantas Points.

Best options for making cheap calls/text when overseas?

One of the reasons I use the Ubigi eSIM is that it doesn't show as roaming, unlike some of the other cheaper eSIM options.

    Changing Qantas Classic Reward Seats

That's to put in an upgrade request, which doesn't necessarily require business reward space. Rebooking into a business reward seat is different. Yeah, generally you can do it online

    Changing Qantas Classic Reward Seats

Yes, this is correct. 5000 pts per passenger Nope, that's fine

Qantas adds Brisbane-Manila but suspends Sydney-Shanghai flights

Just like the no-show penalty, the fee only applies against the value of the ticket if you want to re-book or refund whatever remains of the ticket

    Qantas Club Flexible membership

That works for regular Qantas Club (it just counts as a renewal), so I assume it does for PC+ too

    Qantas Club Flexible membership

I assume you're not Platinum 1 anymore as noted in your profile then :P. Do you do enough domestic flying on one visit to make that worthwhile?

    eSims, what is your experience.

Even on most Android devices I understand that the VoWiFi bypasses any system VPN settings. Also I think some commercial VPN services won't tunnel the IPSec WiFi calling traffic correctly.

    eSims, what is your experience.

Just use Telstra WiFi calling? Also, the roaming plan is not required to receive SMS. As noted earlier, you should also be able to "WiFi" call through your other SIM's data connection, although this is annoying to setup on iOS.

    Qantas Club Flexible membership

I wonder if the QFF credit cards that currently give a discount and/or joining fee waiver (e.g. ANZ FF Black) will be updated to give discounts on the monthly scheme

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I think I generally agree, and I personally have no trouble with such an approach on Asian carriers (since I love the vast majority of Asian food), however as we found out earlier in this thread sometimes people can be quite picky with what food they want, so having just one option does sorta...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I agree that Euro business usually has pretty good food quality, but in my experience on these <2h flights with BA, Finnair, and KLM they usually only have one food option, which I'm really not a fan of. At least Qantas will offer 2 or 3 options on these flights, with at least one hot.

    Qantas Customer Remediation Program

I'm pretty sure Deloitte has used the same IT system for previous programs, so I'm surprised something as simple as attaching two case numbers to one account is unsupported. Anyway, it sounds like their call center staff has had about as much training as Qantas' outsourced call centers

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Yeah, although technically discount Y SYD-MEL earns only 400, it's just the Minimum Points Guarantee applies and brings that up to 800

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

The source of truth is really the earning tables: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earn-points/airline-earning-tables/partner-airline-earning-tables.html. I reference these instead of using the calculator for everything but QF flights. GMP-HND will earn 10/20/40 status credits...

    Bargain Cathay Pacific Premium Economy

Yeah, I'm a good fan of CX PE pricing. I've paid about +$200 over economy (and ~= QF economy) for CX PE to Japan a few times. The other benefit of CX PE over Y is that they'll always earn at "Flexible Economy" or "Premium Economy" rates to QFF, as opposed to regular CX Econ which is a coughshoot.
