    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I’m surprised they’re asking but it’s better to have it ready. So my Amex US journey commenced in 2022, I think I used an old UK card to global transfer, as it was late 2022 I closed the last of my Amex AU cards. I had to ironically GT back to Amex AU earlier this year, after a year of...

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

True This is a good point. I don't know how much they do share - I would assume that at least the Star Alliance Rewards portal is run/administered by HSBC or someone related to them, so they'd need that consent to be able to link/transfer points, but the status part I'm not sure. The T&Cs say...

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

You can still change it up to and for a few days after triggering the offer (in past experience, unless they've changed things now, but it all looks pretty similar).

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

It does seem a bit ambiguous the more I read the different sets of terms; there's room for interpretation (especially knowing that, whether you have gold or not, you can say you do in order to get the *A points - this isn't cheating your way to a benefit, it's taking one in lieu of the other...

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

That's not the case in normal circumstances, but I do wonder whether it would affect eligibility for the SUB specifically under this offer (the 25k+20k SQ miles extra). Under normal circumstances you get the option and just need to choose the 40k Star Alliance points.

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

No probs. I was Star Gold when I first took it, so had no desire to become double Gold (and it's lost if you select SQ when already SQ Gold). There was no specific offer when I signed up, just the "normal" status offer, it was poring through the T&Cs and discovering that points were an option...

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

This /does/ work, but whether it'll work alongside this offer, I don't know. Last time I held this card, I forwent the Star Gold and took the 40k points (SUB and on spending $60k), which went to 64k AC points (plus those from spending). I would think as long as you set SQ as your airline...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

*Memories of Amex AU being 1:1 to SQ and transferring heaps of MR from UK* - every 100k UK MR became ~210k SQ, now the same will be closer to 67k once the deval to 3:1 takes effect :(

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Weirdly I can use foreign cards on all Woolies related sites except Everyday Pay - I can't add HSBC Premier credit to that. It goes through the secure thing, sends the verification code to my US number, the test $1 appears with HSBC, but it just doesn't work ultimately. Correct, def the best...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Excellent! To be fair, the CS team (while better than Australia's, historically) are pretty uninformed about GT, they don't know how it works or what's acceptable (mostly). It's just not something they deal with often. A bit like transferring MR points between countries, sometimes you have to...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

You might be...waiting to relocate...or still employed by an Aussie employer? I submitted my Aussie payslips. That was for FR as an existing customer though, rather than for a new app.

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

No worries - the Marriott card rarely had any better SUBs, but the BA does, up to 60k now and then, maybe worth bearing in mind. FR = Financial Review - not sure exactly how these are triggered and it can be inconvenient, because they tend to block all your cards until they make a decision...

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

You need to spend $48k in year one for it to renew in year 2, just to clarify. No, only PPS Club get actual stuff now. I was KF Gold for a few years not from this card, and years ago (about 10) I got a physical silver membership card and luggage tag, but never anything from any year of Gold.

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

They’re looking to focus on their core operations in Asia/UK. While they’ve dumped a lot of markets, even Canada (which I’d guess is similar to ours), in the US they kept Premier/Private clients. Don’t necessarily think they’ll do that here, but you never know. Seems strange that they launched...

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

Aeroplan had/has a Black Friday sale at 100% atm. You can transfer in from Amex US. CBA used to be a route in Aus, albeit that’s dead now and was poor anyway. Pay.com.au is the only option domestically now, I /think/. That said, SQ availability via Kris is a lot better historically, so combined...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

Agree. Although HSBC is a smaller player here, I like their global presence which seems unmatched. I wonder if they’d do what they’ve done in the US, which seems to be to dump everything except Premier/Private 🤔. Much smaller operation/market here though. I use my US, UK and Expat accounts...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

Sort of related (in that it’s HSBC) but I have the Premier CC the chop when the fee came in, using a US HSBC Premier CC instead. The other day, I got an email from SQ and, while not quite as generous as the AC offer a year or so back, it is a decent offer for a card free in the first year...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

AFAIK all UK cards have a minimum age limit of 18 don’t they? I don’t recall ever being able to issue supps to kids, on any card, Amex or otherwise? Australian cards are different in that respect. Though maybe you’ve had options via Premier banking etc. - I had Barclays Premier until a couple...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Yes, bonus still applies as you’ve not had a UK Amex within the previous whatever months - their bonuses are - any of them if you haven’t had any. Once you’ve had any Amex in the previous 18(I think) months, you’re only eligible for Plat Charge and BAPP (but you remain eligible for both) unless...
