    Hilton/ DT Cairns

Stayed at DT Cairns last week for an overnight transit as the rate was great and I was only in for about 10 hours total - overall not much to ring home about at all. The rooms are ok, they do recognise HH members and a welcome card and a packet of chocloate coated nuts and with their own special...

VA Regional New Service - Sydney Tamworth

Whilst good to see competition - I have staff travelling up there every week - the times are next to useless. Might be aimed at the non-business market - or maybe a way to keep out Rex!

Virgin to remove bagfree fares from Domestic Routes

Agree - as a heavy domestic flyer - VA are still behind QF in many areas. That doesn't make them a LCC by no means however they are coming from different direction than more traditional carriers that have moved down (such as AirNZ). But lets be honest here - ultimately VA need MONEY so they...

Love at First (Lounge) sight - MEL/SYD Autumn 2015 menus

But they have one of my favourite Pinot Noirs on the menu now hmmmmm better organise a work trip! - and the Perrier Jouet is not a bad drop (certainly better than the Moet 06)

Valet parking at SYD lounge entry.

Can you register like with QF Valet Parking ? - that was simple and in the end all they needed to know what flight I am coming back on. Everything else was sorted out. In Perth- in some cases they were ready for me before I even got to the valet counter in Perth. That is one of my frustrations...

    Booked under V class yesterday

Had a pre-18 Feb booked V Class fare adjusted automatically today (SC and points) for a flight posting as discount Y yesterday. So as long as this happens phone call may not be needed after all.

    Retro Claims - what's reasonable?

Don't get me started on VA codeshare for internal NZ flights - every single flexi fare does not post and needs to be chased up, and up and up. 3 months is the record to date with a manual entry done at the end and marked as "bonus" ! VA - I don't like wasting my time chasing SC multiple times...

Airnorth threatens to ban passengers who take advantage of "hidden city" loophole

Agree - bag drop, check in, collecting your ticket - all require ID. As for carry on luggage - everything is weighed - even handbags, laptop bags etc so almost everyone has to end up checking in something. But they are a pretty good (old fashioned) airline and the DWN-TSV leg they do with QF...

Armageddon at SYD this afternoon ??

I got one of those messages last week when Perth AP got hit by a big storm in the afternoon. Cancelled flight, boarding screens all wrong, absolute chaos. Customers told (verbally) to organise their accommodation (waiting for that one to end in a argument ...) Problem was I received that SMS 5...

FlexiPlus fare in Grabaseat Air NZ website, is that the true full Y class...

The VA "status earn" is a bit of a scam when it comes to AirNZ. It is almost impossible to book one or to earn anything.... Wanting to travel domestically in NZ is only about the lounge access (which is I must say quite good). The only option is to book VA codeshares as flexis - noting you...

International lounge access in Sydney - temporary changes

Hope it doesn't take too long otherwise my short fling with ANZ/VA will end this trip and I'll be back on QF/OW to NZ. In the lounge at the moment - it is full, ie standing room, food is mediocre at best - the QF Gladstone lounge last week was far superior... hmmmmm They are sending overflow...

    Bubbles?

although on the A330 on my SYD-PER flight today when I asked for a glass bubbles was told they didn't have any.... Hmmmm in fact, after a 11 months hiatus flying the J transcontinental route on VA I thought the whole service was below par in many ways compared to last year - the cost cutting...

    SC Earn on ANZ Flights

As someone who has increased their domestic NZ flying recently - flying Air NZ domestic is completely useless if trying to get SC for VA. Of course an alternative is rather non-existent if doing regional flights. Oh well at least you get lounge access.

    Virgin Australia Multi-City Booking

i would estimate (probably underestimating here too) that VA has lost more than $100K from both myself and 7 staff over the last 18months since there is no multi-city function. Most of our projects are rapid visits to multiple sites/offices in a week and nearly all flexi style fares - so we just...

Due to simpler and fairer will you drop status?

Will maintain P1 with 1.5 months to spare - but as most of my travel is domestic Y the changes are not that notable for me... well maybe except for poor old Adelaide now being 20SC rather than 30SC from SYD...

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Scored two Lady Gaga ArtPop Sydney concert tickets with backstage pass and dinner/drinks before :p and for once I am not travelling - which is usually the case with invites! YAY! Thanks QF - makes the 100s of dom Y flights (over the past few years) a bit more tolerable!

    Government Rates?

Ditto - have been asked for AAA or Gov ID at Hilton Perth, Brisbane, Darwin and Gold Coast - but not every time.

    Heads up about program changes

Indeed as a heavy domestic flyer it does impact me - BNE-TSV, SYD-HOB is now 20 and CNS-SYD is now 30. CNS-BNE is also 30.. mmmm... Of course to upgrade to CNS-SYD it is 10,000 points (flexi) of course 10,000 points is the same for SYD-PER but that is still 40SC. So that is fairer..;)
