Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

From a business and PE class perspective I can’t say I’ve ever noticed anything unusual during the SIN-NYC/vv flights that I’ve taken. If anything less of a rush on the toilets towards the end than on a short overnight like SIN-MEL/SYD. Of course economy may be different, but still remember...

Can see merit in this in the F lounge. The most pax I’ve seen in there at any given times is 8. Make more sense to have three separate cubicles that anyone can use (one accessible) than separate M and F toilets.

Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

In my experience, spanning Flixbus rides in France, Netherlands/Belgium and Italy - yet to have operational wifi - but other than that, comfortable and a good price, (about 1/4 the price of trains and only slightly longer journey time , or the ride we took in Italy the only choice unless we...

Lithium Powerbank Ignites in Qantas Lounge

I guess what proportion of these sort of battery fires are relate to laptop or phone batteries vs powerbanks ? Given that the former are much more commonly carried than powerbanks would be, I assume

Is it possible to return from SE Asia to East Coast AUS on day flights?

I am based in SIN and have been for almost 17 years (originally from Melbourne). I have zero business travel back to Australia, so it is all leisure/VFR. Since covid finished, I've definitely moved to day flights (a ratio of 5:1 daytime to overnight), But I don't sleep well on planes, even...

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

I suspect the loss of the longstanding EK service has encouraged JQ to stay in the market longer, and see how it turns out. Anecdotally, in my 17 years of semi-commuting between SIN & MEL fares have never been higher than they have been this year. They are lucky, if like over the last...

    Jetstar announces MCY-DPS-SIN

Good timings for Bali trips for travellers originating in Singapore, and must feel there is money to be made on this. Although it would have to be one of the more hotly contested routes in terms of number of carriers operating, with 9 competing on the route.

ExpertFlyer beta program - April 2025

One thing I used to like about EF is it showed exit row and bulkhead seats as blocked on SQ if they weren't occupied. After the recent downgrade to the site, it now just shows them as occupied, regardless of whether they are or not. i.e. shows as occupied even though on the SQ website they...

New SkyBus routes; Sunshine & Eastern Express

Now I was thinking that name (Sunshine Express) looked familiar. Last time I saw it was in Brisbane some 20 years ago.

That's what I was saying. But there is some black magic due to the married sectors issue and the competency of the agent is also a factor, and I'm not sure if 1) You might lose the retained sector in the process of making the change when you "divorce" the married sectors (for the want of a...

Adding a stopover is more complicated than you would think. Firstly on a Saver, you are permitted to include only one stopover, i.e in one direction. If you were trying to add two stopovers, then that is why it would need to be in Advantage award. You could, subject to availability in...

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

For posterity, a screenshot of the last two weeks of JQ 7 (minus today's flight which just landed, some 75 minutes late). The winner being Thu 23rd as the only on time arrival in the period.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It could be worse. You could be travelling into SYD on the similarly timed SQ 211, in the F cabin. Which is has exactly the same choice for the prelanding refreshment. Oh well, the plebs up the back, for that meal, have a choice between a "Margherita Pizza Bar" and a "Mozzarella, Tomato and...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Don't underestimate how petty and small minded management can get. There must be some reason all 6 flights to east coast Australia departing between 7 and 11am have identical menus. And porridge is a cheap item, which is consistent with their overall cheapening of their catering in recent...

What makes a good airport and what's your favourite?

One thing an airport has to be is fit for purpose. What makes a good airport for a long haul transit hub is going to be different to a short haul /domestic hub which in turn would be different for end of the line airport. I think efficiency above all else. But otherwise, in addition to many...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

That’s just in the name of efficiency - streamlined catering and cost cutting. Typical SQ in 2025 who at times seem to have no appreciation of the tastes of some of their key non-Singaporean markets (same dynamic that sees taller people struggle with the regular J seats). SQ 217 has...

    Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Usually the 10 would denote a flight delayed to the next day, so as not to confuse it with the scheduled departure for that day. Once I moved to JQ 1007 (or similar number) which was JQ 7 from the day before running 26 hrs late when my JQ7 flight was delayed by 10 hrs.

@Cruiser Elite thus sounds fairly accurate from the SQ originating perspective. The one common discrepancy reported on FT is the lack of ability to throughcheck luggage to BA @ LHR. Seems to be problematic. (But OK to through check to BA @ SIN).

Is it possible to return from SE Asia to East Coast AUS on day flights?

Nor would a flight originating in MEL or BNE.

Is it possible to return from SE Asia to East Coast AUS on day flights?

I think with the advent of inflight wifi, and more spacious and private business class seats, the "workdays" lost during flights is perhaps not as significant as it used to be. On day flights, those who need to be can be quite productive if they want to. Perhaps also one of the reasons why...
