    Passengers clapping after landing

Clapping on landing seems rather common in Latin America. I know several here are firmly against it and would in fact ridicule or think less of anyone who does (in jest or seriously). I wasn't on the flight, but the QF30 incident that was diverted to Manila. A video showed the cabin all...

    Travel In Switzerland

You used to / do live in / close to Montreux and Vevey? I was in Lausanne for 15 months. It's definitely a lot easier to explore CH when you're being paid in CHF! Those CHF 49 day tickets from the commune office or post office were also great.

    Travel In Switzerland

Fair enough, but I did a quick search and there are a bunch of places at even half the price and don't look that bad. Still, understandably expensive. Hope you're thinking of going to the Swiss Transport Museum while you're in Luzern. It's a shame because there are genuinely some great places...

    Travel In Switzerland

Taking off at any given time of the morning isn't the hard part, it is getting up and getting to the airport that is. For example, catching a 0500 flight means getting up at around 0300 for myself at home, sometimes a bit earlier. The flight ends up being the minor catch up from interrupted...

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1GL2orwBD8/ Send a message? Yeah right. People may have their opinions about China, and it may sometimes seem like a kangaroo court, but when they want to send a message to those that think they can conduct business unethically, they definitely can. Executives...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Curious if anyone can comment. What kind of things would CASA be looking for before approving the fitting of divider screens or the curtain? Genuine responses only - no "bureaucracy is as bureaucracy does" BS

    Virgin Australia flights to Doha

How many is "plenty"? What you might have ascertained is that upgrades are not merely space-available. I wonder if the decision to upgrade based on space may be based on fare type (including specific bucket) and status, amongst some other factors (e.g. sudden no shows, space for Platinums to...

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

This is the thing - what kinds of penalties, and against who? The penalty was doled out to the  company, not Mr Alan Joyce or anyone specifically. Banning from directorships would be worthwhile if only it may protect the next company, not really imposing anything on the perpetrator. But then...

    What cheeses me off

Sorry, should have been more clear about this. I don't know about being required (nothing, except give way to the right and those on the roundabout, is required), but I think, as was taught to me by my driving instructor ages ago, people  should be always indicating left to exit the roundabout...

    What cheeses me off

WCMO people who don't or incorrectly use indicators while on a roundabout. Those WCMO includes those who fail to indicate left to get off the roundabout, including if you were going straight. Then there are those people who change their mind on which exit to go to while on the roundabout.

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

What would be a greater disincentive? Force shut down the company for a period of time (a sort of corporate or business prison)? Imprison the entire board? What does the TWU do with $50M? I assume the other $40M goes to employees, or is that punitive (i.e. goes to the government)?

In this episode of Let's Be Pedantic... (yellow) To say "$12 AUD"... AUD means "Australian Dollar" (or Dollars), which reads awkwardly with the $ sign as well. It would be more correct to write AUD 12 or even A$12 (not official, might be confused, but could be understood). (blue) Slash is...

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Flexi Economy, particularly the most expensive bucket (called Y), can often be more expensive than Business, unless you're comparing the highest Business bucket against any other Economy bucket. The attractiveness is that if Business is cheaper than Flexi Economy, you might as well purchase...
