A paper arrival card is no more complicated and also done in advance. Importantly it is more contemporaneous if done in flight before landing. No need for apps or websites or access to the internet. Just pen paper. All cabin crew carry pens if you don't have one.

Nah no need, I just do it on the airplane. I have passport number memorised. So I don't even need to get the passport out of the overhead. On board completion of card also reduces extra questions at the passport kiosk.
