Qantas Says COVID Credits Are Refundable

Just called Flight Centre about a Qantas credit for a flight that I booked with them. The customer service agent said that they are awaiting Qantas setting up a system that will allow them to process refunds. That seems to align with the information conveyed to the previous poster.

China - never a dull moment!

Mrs Woodyren is travelling to China in June but she will be travelling from Singapore. As far as I know at present people travelling from Singapore and many other countries currently require a supervised RAT test. This was reduced down from the more expensive and time consuming PCR recently. I...

China - never a dull moment!

Thanks for the updates. Mrs Woodyren is heading for Shenyang after we finish a few Singapore cruises in June. We will meet up together again in Singapore late July and spend 24 nights cruising to Tokyo and back before we both head back to China. It will be my first visit in almost 4 years. Mrs...

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Then tell them to cancel but also to stay on the call till the cancellation goes through. That was when they "found" my offer. If still no offer get them to reinstate the card if you wish to retain it.

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Qantas Ultimate card. AF due next week. Called and asked for an offer. The consultant said there are no offers and I had to decide whether I wish to cancel or not. I asked to be put through to the cancelation team and the consultant said that I that they could only connect me if I definitely...

Business and first class reward availability wide open via China Eastern airline (Multicity search)

Any airport is fine. We just wish to fly to Beijing. They were the only routing that came up. Whether you did a search direct SYD to Beijing in general or via Shanghai. We were just looking at options. The bookings will be for December and like you I suspect a lot more routings will open up.

Business and first class reward availability wide open via China Eastern airline (Multicity search)

I was checking out some first class reward ticket and J options today. Also looking at a few reviews and all in all it's good availability and very low taxes. The points required to Beijing are the same but it involves a connection from a flight arriving in PVG around 2000 and then an early...

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Our two longest have been 47 days and 43 days on large mass market ships. Once settled in to the onboard routine we were certainly in no hurry to finally disembark.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I have had it thrice. March 2020. Jan 2022. Nov 2022. Each time akin to a moderate cold. Milder each time. Zero cough or fever.

    cruise surprises

We have over 50 cruises under our belts but have only ever cruised on mass market lines. Royal, Celebrity, NCL, Carnival. We have cruised from Singapore, Southampton, Rome and Sydney since travel resumed last year. All on Royal. Happy to help with advice but it will all depend on your personal...

    cruise surprises

Just stumbled on to this thread so I will try to supply some additional input. If you do social media many cruises now have FB groups for a particular cruise. In that group you will find many people who will share their excursion advice and often organise a tour where they allow other members...

China - never a dull moment!

My mother in law passed away today. Covid will sadly take a severe toll on the elderly in China as it has elsewhere.

China - never a dull moment!

Mrs Woodyren's mum is currently in hospital in Shenyang with Covid. She is 95. Spent the first night in emergency on oxygen as there were no beds but they have now moved her to a ward. Family reporting huge numbers waiting for admission and/or treatment. We were hoping to be able to visit once...

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

We were scheduled to sail on Ovation OTS from Sydney today. A 10 night Pacific cruise followed by an 11 night NZ. Did our required home RAT test yesterday morning and it was negative. I felt a little off and started getting the sniffles yesterday afternoon and a little bit worse this morning...

Are you heading off on a Trans Pacific in April? We are on Ovation for 35 days from Sydney?

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

So far this year we have spent 67 days on mass market cruise ships. The ones we have been on have been able to both look after those who fell ill and make the experience enjoyable for the rest of the passengers. We are heading off on Wed for another 21 days. Like GrahamBRI we also will pick up...

The Woodyren's 2022 wanderings. Maldives Mallorca Malaga Mykonos and the Matterhorn plus many parts/ports in between.

It was a but only if it was doing a Trans Atlantic. We have a Trans Pacific on Ovation in April followed by an Alaskan cruise. Also have a number of Spectrum cruises out of Singapore including two 12 night itineraries from Singapore to Tokyo and return in July August. Spectrum is our favourite...

The Woodyren's 2022 wanderings. Maldives Mallorca Malaga Mykonos and the Matterhorn plus many parts/ports in between.

DOH-SYD leg was on an A380. By the time the flight left we were very tired and undecided about when or what to eat. By the time we made our decisions most of the best options were taken. All in all though the anytime done option allowed the excellent staff to suggest meals that were perfectly...

The Woodyren's 2022 wanderings. Maldives Mallorca Malaga Mykonos and the Matterhorn plus many parts/ports in between.

We had a four hour layover in Doha. The Al Mourjam lounge is huge with the main dining area upstairs. When we arrived there was plenty of room in the dining section but later they were taking reservations at the bottom of the stairs. Food was good but not quite as impressive as expected. My...
