Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Had a chicken and mushroom pasta on the 9:30pm from Sydney to Brisbane. Was presented quite well and very tasty. No photo as my camera is shocking.

Success SYD to BNE at T-25 for $90, I think minimum was $65.

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

Called to cancel today - didn't state outright that I wanted to cancel, but that I was considering it. The agent asked if a cheaper card would be preferred but that was all, then proceeded to go through the cancellation. Didn't ask why I wanted to cancel and certainly didn't offer any retention...

Business Class - MEL -> SIN

There's no guarantee that any given flight will have J CR available. You might have more luck in the ~2 weeks prior to departure, I've found Emirates tend to have availability closer to departure these days.

Double Status Credits promotion (Book by 27/2/24, travel 28/2/24-14/2/25)

The international red tail sale ends tonight, but there is now a Queensland sale that ends on the 12th Feb, so I wouldn't expect anything until after that..

Qantas staff skipping the line at the New UberX Rank at Sydney International

At Sydney I generally find Ubers and Taxis very hit and miss so I just grab the train into the CBD as I find it's more consistent. Wait times have always been massive when I arrive.

    787-9 service BNE to SYD

Thanks, I was wondering where it was coming from. Normally I'd take this as an opportunity for an easy upgrade to a lie-flat - but having not flown any PE before I'm keen to try that, which will be like a free 737 upgrade minus catering anyway.

    787-9 service BNE to SYD

It's not even the earliest - there's one at 5am. Will be better when daylight savings is over.

    787-9 service BNE to SYD

It looks like QF503 BNE to SYD will be serviced by a 787-9 Monday week. Not sure if this is a common occurrence but as far as wide bodies go I've only ever seen the odd A330 on this route. Looking forward to trying PE for the first time though!

Major 2025 Qantas Frequent Flyer program changes

The devaluation is a shame, but happy there's no changes to status earn. It's another good reminder that hoarding points always carries risk.

Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

The chicken miso was pretty good last night. There was also Penfolds X Thienot Champagne Brut Rosé available which was very nice!

    General Virgin Australia discussion

Great, my highest priority is being able to get on a plane that day - the second is not spending an absolute fortune on a last minute whY fare (there's $330 J fares at the moment MEL>BNE). Refund to CC will be much preferred over travel bank.

    General Virgin Australia discussion

Is anyone familiar with how late you can cancel a domestic business flight on VA? From what I've read it seems like up until departure is okay. I need to travel late in my wife's pregnancy and was planning on booking the last J flight for a couple of nights but would most likely cancel them...

Article: The Benefits of Sitting at the Back of the Plane

I prefer to sit forward as there's less engine noise, and I prefer seeing less people in front of me as it feels more private and quiet (even though it's not).
