    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

I have to admit I was INVOLVED in the strangest onboard activity Ive seen. Many years ago (1989) a group of about 20 of us were on the same flight heading to Bali for a Skydiving Convention... super cheap package deal, Garuda both ways (but turned out to be an American chartered DC-10 operating...

What's behind your AFF user name?

I travel for target shooting competitions..one of which uses guns of the old west era (and costuming lol) and requires each shooter have an alias. I looked around for something Australian but still "period" and decided on "trooper". Inspired by Samuel Nelson, the NSW Colonial policeman who was...

    General Medical issues thread

After reading this series of posts MY input seems a bit trivial! I had shoulder surgery 6 weeks ago... bicep tendon and some other stuff... I'm surprised that I am still getting fairly significant pain at times... but apparently thats not unusual. Much greater range of movement than 2 weeks...

Why You Should NOT Book flights with Booking.com or GoToGate.com

It seems to be quite variable. I have only used Booking.com for hotels (and never had a problem..luck..or??) I recently booked a multi airline J trip on Aunt Betty via Skyscanner ..and had both airlines PNRs within a very short time. Itinerary shows on both Airline web sites exactly as booked...

Transit through US a good idea or not?

And apparently travelling on an ESTA. Why not a Spousal visa? Regardless of relationship status she couldn't legally stay on that document... yet surely the risk of her doing so (with her internet husband) must be seen as unacceptably high? We don't see it I suppose but my understanding is...

Difficulty Getting An E-Visa for Oman

Hmmm... I visited Oman..in late 1990.... but arrived by sea and don't recall actually showing a passport to anyone... (RAN ship) I suspect i'll get away with saying No to the question of previous visits!

Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

France for me. Received the paperwork at my home address here...so the Rental company must have passed on my details..but they did NOT pay the fine, nor did they charge any admin fee. The fine was quite low by Aussie standards.... lol... and I was still eligible for the "Discounted early...

    Qantas Bassinet seat requests

If I book a flight and seats that I can pay for are available I would expect that if I paid for one then I would retain the seat. (Subject to truly operational considerations ) I realise where you are coming from but how would YOU feel if moved from a carefully chosen seat to some random...

Red P plater - Car rental in US

Alamo simply requires a license that is "valid, unexpired and contains a photograph" They do specify that Learner permits are not acceptable. It really does look like a Provisional license would be OK (Which was a surprise to me... but then I'm old..lol)

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Inexperienced in the QF world! I have an award flight CBR-MEL-TSV, booked with 20k AA miles (that used to be US miles ;) ) in Biz. But of course the CBR-MEL flight is in X, no Biz on that one. Will I get 2x baggage allowance at check in without argument, or at all?

    The Hospital Food thread

In National Capital Private again 2 weeks ago for a shoulder op. Only 1 night in.. and again, a long day of nil by mouth before the actual surgery. Sandwiches afterwards. BUT..the next morning... Eggs/Bacon/Tomato/Yoghurt/Corn flakes/Toast/Juice/Tea. That was more like it! :D 🤗

    General Medical issues thread

Surgery on my shoulder last week. Now in a sling, and not allowed to drive for SIX weeks. (Ack!) I'm an old bachelor and I have to say I did not imagine just how difficult living with one useable arm would be. It reaches the point of hilarity at times... "Nope..can't do that either!"...

Who is going to the USA, who has changed their travel and what will you do differently?

Just back from a February trip and yes, going again in August. Poor exchange rate will mean a shorter trip than originally planned. Thats the only difference. Entry procedure in Feb was no different to last year, or the year before..etc etc - have NEVER been asked to hand over phone/laptop...

    Airfares to US to drop?

Just another data point. US trip in February. LAX arrival was entirely routine...and I travel with guns! ;) Planning another trip in August and not expecting anything different TBH. Might try for a different entry port though. (SFO, IAH?) Long lines at LAX seem to be much more common in the...
