Hawaiian Airlines will no longer be an Amex transfer partner

Whats the play here? Alaska does seem to have genuine availability. But I am nervous sending a whole heap of points out without an immediate use to park in Alaska. What are peoples experiences with Alaska?

The Virgin Australia Newbie Questions Thread

Whats the thought processes on VA availability on QR? I am VA Platinum but doubt it means much. Are seats, if any, being released very close to time?

    Airfares to US to drop?

Trump will claim a great deal and that will be the end of it. Soon. Perhaps. Who knows? Although airfares might drop to the US (hopefully in the premium cabins) the decline in the Aussie Dollar might significantly offset any savings when you arrive. I have debated a trip there in recent times...

    Airfares to US to drop?

Looking into a potential future booking, I see the good people at QF are asking for $15k for a return J flight to DFW over Xmas. Sure, peak season and all, but ridiculous pricing still. CX for half that price and a much better product albeit up via HKG. For all you USA FF which airport do you...

World Changing Conversation at the Mercure Sydney Macquarie Park

Recent experience in an international J lounge where some tool decided to play his tiktok stream on loud speaker for all to hear. He would often play the ones he thought funny on reptition several times. All while having his feet perched up on the chairs.

Advice re first attempt at carry-on only with Qantas and JAL

Cannot comment on the QF business angle, but I have had no issue on J in CX or SQ internationally with a carry on suitcase (sitting around 10kg) and a backpack. I have never been questioned about this when flying J. In fact, the only time I was pulled up with such a configuration was JQ Y on...

Help with Bali accom (April 2025) - Resort suggestions with 1yr toddler

The Hyatt in Sanur is lovely. The food options within the resort are decent and the prices were reasonable as well. It is also easily walkable along the beach for other options or out into the township. I found it a better option than the Hyatt in Nusa Dua (having stayed at both).

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Recently booked two separate hotels and instead of selecting two people and one room selected two rooms and one person. Rates were non refundable. Pleading with the hotels commenced. One was great, the other took a bit more work, but resolved it in the end. One room with two people secured.

Forced Landside Transit Manila international airport- Visa?

Has anyone gone from Domestic to International at Terminal 3? Flying in on a domestic flight and then transferring to a CX flight. Tickets are not linked obviously. Have given about 4 hours transit time. Wont have checked baggage so hand luggage only. Do I have to exit the terminal to go up...

Booking AA Flights - Use AA US or AA Aus?

Business. I am not especially worried about status credits on oneworld or crediting points to QF for the flight given the fare difference between what QF is charging anyway but avoid booking OTA generally so am hesitant.

Booking AA Flights - Use AA US or AA Aus?

How reliable are expedia for airfares? I probably trust them with respect to hotels but slightly more cautious with airfares. There is self interest in the question. Currently pricing some very attractive fares on Cathay via Expedia that I cannot replicate with Cathay directly. Normally I...

Turkish Airlines Sydney-Istanbul flights via Kuala Lumpur

Is there a way to find out which days TK are operating out of Sydney? Not seeing what days anywhere and noting it is only four(?) times a week to commence with. I was hoping to see if there were some competitive fares especially via KUL in Dec/Jan. Just managed to find something on the TK...

China - never a dull moment!

Thanks for the tips all. For those interested, CX seems to have some decent J pricing around late Dec. $3.5k out of Sydney is not too bad. What is Christmas like in China? Mass tourism? It wont be CNY levels but curious if western new year is just as busy.

China - never a dull moment!

Genuine question for the China regulars. Do you need a guide/driver for Shanghai. I imagine the metro is sufficient so no need for a driver but what about a local guide. Can you cut it with translation apps on your own or do you really need someone to translate/guide for you? Where would people...
