What (if anything) makes you loyal to an airline? In my case QF

… except when flying often enough that the occasional points-transfer offer makes “greener pastures” look enticing. I’ve not spoken with my QF lifetime-gold boss since I semi-retired, but about 2yrs ago he was getting a bit sick of the same-old same-old with QF and was considering moving...

Worrying scenes from inside as Flight attendants try to evacuate plane

Do dangers that cause a ‘plane on the ground to be evacuated always mean opening all doors & activating the chutes/slides etc? I would assume not, and in such a case, that unless there are stairs at an exit it won’t be opened … ?

Things to do in Bengaluru (Bangalore)

I think that’s why there’s so much value in getting someone local to recommend. :) As a result of taking visitors on walking-tours of Sydney, and those working out so well ‘cos the people running those tours are so enthusiastic & there’re all this interesting facts etc about the place you live...

Things to do in Bengaluru (Bangalore)

You’d want to include a lot of food & eating if going there, wouldn’t you? Probably find locals that can make recommendations, food tours, that sort of stuff? I’m sure there’re a billionty other things to do, which hopefully others will recommend … but that’s so much down my alley it’d be super...

Airlines with easy Y extra seat purchase?

I guess whether it matter depends on what you’re planning on using the free seat for? It took me a while to wonder why you were asking, because I’d really only use a free seat for elbow-room and for not having someone spreading into my seat … but I guess you might raise the armrest (if that’s a...

    HND T3 new Centurion Lounge

I’ve always assumed an AmEx lounge would be somewhat 2nd-rate … like a SkyTeam lounge in an airport which wasn’t the home of a SkyTeam member. Probably because anyone with an AmEx can get in. Is that an unfair assumption?

Airlines with easy Y extra seat purchase?

Oops, I scrood that up then … I plugged one of the big Euro airports into their site and got a fare, they must’ve code-shared part of the flight!

Airlines with easy Y extra seat purchase?

But given it’s for 2, the cost halves c/f for 1, and nobody’s sitting in that middle seat. And it can be booked online. I dunno how good it’d be for one adult trying to lie down, 4.5’ if you’re lucky, that’s trying to sleep pretty curled-up …

Article: The Difference a Foot Net Makes on a Long-Haul Flight

If we’re talking Headless Horseman stuff and your body is always fumbling around for your head after it’s fallen off and is rolling down the aisle then no … but if you’re getting a “crick neck” due to weird neck angles then yeah it very much might help, my wife finds them helpful for that...

Airlines with easy Y extra seat purchase?

This is what Air New Zealand’s Skycouch product is, innit? That should be easy to book; doubt it’s as cheap as US$70 though.

Article: The Difference a Foot Net Makes on a Long-Haul Flight

I’m only 6’1”, and I’ve got both legs pointed either one way or the other to avoid them intruding into the neighbouring footwell … not even possible for a middle seat. Of course that means you’re sitting ‘twisted’ the whole flight. Anything you put your feet in or on that’s elevated has to...

Article: The Difference a Foot Net Makes on a Long-Haul Flight

I don’t understand how these can work in Y. There’s already not enough legroom, your legs are already splayed in the memeworthy “manspreading” pose … given that a net must be above the floor level it has to mean your feet are moved even closer to you when using it, reducing the available room...

Delayed baggage with Sri Lankan airlines

Most insurance coverage & compensation really seems skewed towards getting you back whatever it was you lost, or paying you it's value if it's not possible to get it back ... but all the costs of not having it for a period of time are often overlooked. And it's annoying!! Given that you've...

    Why do you travel?

Y’know, it’s a good question and I don’t know if I know the answer. One thing I know makes me feel uncomfortable is going to places where people are struggling; I don’t like to be the wealthy foreigner surveying the lowly plebs … I want to be the scum when I go somewhere, that’s my comfy spot...

    Inflight theft
