    Which BNE Airport Hotel?

Woah ... oops! That'll learn me not to just look at the timing on the message or two prior to mine!! Where did she manage to find fares over 28 months ahead of the travel time?!?!

    Which BNE Airport Hotel?

Depending on what time she's arriving vs train frequency, there may be less schlepping (of bags) involved if she stays in the city at one of the hotels very close to Roma Street or Central? Just a thought, 'cos the station's attached to the terminal & people in this thread who know better than...

Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

While I think it’s unlikely an Italian government agency has sold the debt in this way, my wife had problems with two debt collection agencies after someone ran a red light & put her in hospital for 3 months. He claimed to his insurer that he was not at fault, they took my wife (represented by...

Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

They might also have bought the debt? Seems odd to buy that debt off a government agency, but then, it is Italy …

Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

This! They tried to “upgrade” us to a VW Caravelle in Nice … we rejected, waited ‘til the next day to get a Golf … which was so tight in the parking space I had to crawl out the tailgate after parking. No way the 8-seater van would have fit!!

    BNE to MIA return

Can you wait ‘til the 6-month-ish point? I know I’m terrible with having to wait for anything that leaves unknowns hanging over my head …

    BNE to MIA return

I think it’s a bit early for sale fares that’re quite so heavily discounted to be released yet, isn’t it? Cheapest on Google Flights (really quick search) is $1400 on Untied.

    Article: The National Carrier Stigma

I can sort-of see it as a marketing ploy ... but given the expected role of the FA's I don't think it makes sense to define "best for the job" based on that marketing decision, I think hiring "best for the job" needs to be all the safety & service stuff that makes a bigger impression on the...

Osaka to Melbourne flights March 2026.

China Airlines isn't a LCC, which will be why it's more exxy compared to the rest of that lot (it's also not a CCP airline - just clarifying that due to the original Q about China Eastern).

Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

About 8 years ago we did a South Island trip ... heading towards the west coast from Queenstown on a very straight road yet with lots of gentle undulations I overtook one of the slow-moving camper-vans that infests the country, but because the clear road ahead before the double-lines wasn't...

Anyone else had an overseas speeding fine arrive in the mail?

Surprised the rental company didn’t just bill you after the road authorities billed them as the owner of the car … can imagine a lot of people would just ignore it, unless you go to Italy and they have some arrangement with immigration I don’t know what leverage they’d have over you? Maybe...

Best way to get to Europe J from Australia from a newbie

Can a Platinum member call some super-secret QF 'phone number and ask a minion the possibilities for all this, eg. the minion actually books the Platinum member onto the Asia-to-Europe flight via $ and then the Asia-to-Australia flight for points ('cos that's more than enough points to do a...

Correct me if I’m wrong … but VA was a LCC when they first arrived, weren’t they? Circa 2010 I had about a half-dozen trips to BNE from SYD for work, VA’s price-point was more like JQ than QF throughout the day. I flew VA most of the time, not only because they used the rear stairs at BNE, but...

    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

My wife was the same … until she worked for a month in Sochi, Russia, in 2014. Then she absolutely understood the joy of touching-down in Switzerland, after having escaped Russia and the secret police couldn’t get your ‘plane turned around.

Well also, those are built on the suffering of slaves; airlines that need to operate at a profit & don’t exist to make a despot look good have somewhat different operating parameters.

    Article: The National Carrier Stigma

It’s absolutely ridiculous, but home & familiarity has tremendous power … one of my mates really fancied one of his sisters’ bridesmaids so we ended-up dropping her at FRA in the middle of a Euro trip in our late 20’s … and seeing that QF livery almost evoked tears after only 3wks away from...

Car rental damaged by another renter

They didn’t use a credit card to rent did they? I once tried to knock our hotel down by running a mini-van into it, and the credit card company did Stuff so there was no cost to me.

Car rental damaged by another renter

NSW police don’t want you filing a police report unless someone is hurt, unsure whether they’d even refuse to do it. We’ve had two not-at-fault claims over the last decade, unrelated to rentals, and no police report required (or desired). If they have contact details, that should be enough, IMHO.

    Rome Airport Hotel Question

Try the hotel sites directly? The Hilton for example has a 9am to 6:30pm, the others might be more flexible. Or maybe send the hotel an email directly, few years ago the Hilton at Gatwick let me book for midday to (I think) 8pm when I contacted them via email, but their site wasn’t set-up to...
