Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

I dunno ... as a passenger, I would prefer that it wasn't possible for someone to force me to drink ... ew, puke ... water!

Lithium Powerbank Ignites in Qantas Lounge

It’s amusing watching a Jetstar passenger trying to get one of those incendiary Jeeps aboard as carry-on, and it just won’t fit on the luggage-scale to check whether it’s over 7kg!

Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

I observed this at HKG in 2012 ... I'd been procrastinating during the 3hr wait between flights home over whether I wanted the hassle of carrying booze onboard given that the airside vendors weren't that cheap, checked the Dan Murphy's site & Dan's was cheaper so didn't bother ... then inside...

Lithium Powerbank Ignites in Qantas Lounge

It could be like cars/roads/driving, ... nobody thought to ban it in the Way Back, but if you tried to implement something like that brand-new now there'd be ZERO chance. It's all about how the message is sold to the customer, and how much effect it might have on sales if you don't sell it...

Lithium Powerbank Ignites in Qantas Lounge

Factoid that was interesting to me at least … a mate’s wife runs an antiques business in Beijing, she spends 90% of her life there, and they both do lots of commuting back-and-forth. My mate told me last week that she’d only just discovered Temu. So they don’t bother peddling their cough there...

    Qantas Delayed Mackay Flights

Did someone build a multi-storey car-park at the wrong latitude & longitude, and instead of pulling it down when they realised their mistake, block-in the outer walls & call it an Ibis?

    Mackay Airport

Mackay is the sort of place where you're surprised if baggage collection is any more sophisticated than the cart driving up to where people are waiting to grab their luggage ... and it has a hotel!

    TV series discussion {'ware Spoiler Alert}

My wife got some form of Apple subscriptiony-thing which included it … to be honest I’m not sure what she wanted, I know she subscribes to Apple Music and also pays money for some cloud storage so if may be part of that. Anyhoo … I find there’s good quality stuff on there, but nowhere near...

Exchanging Details after a car accident

While I’m not willing to claim the VIN is always visible in a little window within the black backing at the base of the windscreen; I’d be fairly confident in saying “most”! Outta interest, what’re the cars you’ve got which don’t have that?

Exchanging Details after a car accident

Whether or not you pay an excess relates to whether your insurance company can find someone else to pin it on & recover their costs. If the police get involved, there are also potential legalities involved in the need to identify the culprit. But the police aren’t interested in getting...

Exchanging Details after a car accident

All modern (as in - last 30-odd years) cars I’ve seen have a window at the base of the windscreen where the VIN is stamped. Elsewhere too, different locations for different cars, but that under-windscreen location’s always been there when I’ve looked. Engine-number is a different identifier...

Exchanging Details after a car accident

I once made the mistake of only taking the truck driver’s license details & number plates (prime mover & trailer). All were fake.

Citi cards become myCard - no more CX, KF, EY, QR from 16/11/25

Sounds like those airlines aren’t seeing enough business funneled through Citibank to think it’s worth paying the kick-backs for a points-transfer agreement?

The embarrassing, educational experience of getting "corrected" by a local

Flemish culture isn’t identical to Dutch culture, and in fact I think the Dutch have a similar reputation as portrayed in the Austin Powers movies in Belgium … but on occasion, I do have to double-check myself in not taking offence from a (not-related-in-any-way-to-me-trying-the-language)...

The embarrassing, educational experience of getting "corrected" by a local

Maybe it's changed from 25yrs ago ... back then, they seemed happy when I tried (even though I failed) and then were happy to go with their perfect English. When I didn't try, and just assumed English, they (I think understandably) found it a bit rude .... I got the feeling that they were...
