Article: Is Qantas or Velocity Status Harder to Earn?

As a retired person, the Qantas option is the obvious one. You may sneer at "status runs", but in my case they can actually be combined with going where you want to go. It's really just about maximising the benefits from your desired trips. YMMV.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

"Operated" is an interesting word in this context.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I'm off to PQQ later this week on a QF Dash-8. I'd like to take the public bus into town, but it only goes every 2 hours, so I'd have to wait an hour. Not going to do that, so I plan to use Didi. On my way back, I'll use the bus, as the schedule is more convenient to my departure ex PQQ.

    Tourist visa for Indonesia

I'm not sure I would call paying $50 tokenistic.

Article: Strategies for Cheap Business Class Flights to Europe

Yeah, I guess CGK and MNL aren't worth bothering with. But what would I know?

But is it simpler than QFF? I know what I think.

    Virgin are losing the plot.

I think the point might be, who wants to get to Adelaide (or anywhere else) around 9 pm (unless you have no choice)? So how about comparing flights at 7 am?

If the new owners turn out to be the American aircraft scrap merchants widely touted, then I wouldn't fancy your chances.

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I'd be well into Qantas GFL now, if it wasn't my preference for Ansett (much to my boss's annoyance) way back when. Instead, I ended up with lifetime Star Gold, courtesy of my UA MP lifetime Plat membership. Who was to know about 9/11?

    Qantas wine poor shipping quality

I haven't seen this before. I guess it depends on the winery.

Double Status Credits - QBR Exclusive (October 2025)

This all to thwart VA, who are actively selecting their bigger business flyers to become Plat (and above). I don't see VA winning this argument, and neither should they.

Do you prefer booking directly or via third-party sites?

I usually book AirBnB properties through booking.com, as I find they often offer better rates to me as a Genius level 3, and I find booking.com fairly easy to deal with in relation to accommodation. The exception with booking.com, and other OTA's such as GoToGate, is that they can be a little...

Correct (we know as we have free MyWay+ cards. Prior to that, we were under 70, and had concession fares (but free between 9 and 4).

    Qantas Wine latest offering

I was told by my wine consultant that she has guidelines as to how many extra points she can offer, and can't go beyond this. So you make your decision on this basis. Usually, for me, it's just go with the website price.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Well, actually Pooch, I'm not doing that run until next month. I'm in two minds about it. If the weather's fine, I'll may well walk to Breadalbane and wait for the bus. If it doesn't come or if there's some other issue, I'd call an Uber. Or, alternatively, I could just rent a car at LST. I'll...

    Public Transport for Seniors

I'm not sure what you were trying to say Pooch, but my wife and I are 70+ and do have completely free travel within the ACT with our MyWay+ cards, On the other hand, if we wish to take our 5 year old granddaughter out for a tram ride, she needs to have her own MyWay card (at a cost) and pay for...
