Why accumulate points if no timely reward seats available?

Unclear - I guess there may also be more reward seats to Europe available once QR gets onboard officially. In any case, I was able to find a return business class seat from AU to EU leaving within 3 months - you might just need to a bit creative/flexible

Why accumulate points if no timely reward seats available?

That's strange - I saw another post not long ago saying that there was good short-term availability on Delta?

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I did, but a little less now. When I joined, the free promotion was a free Premium subscription (usually $165/month) - you still needed to pay the credit card fees. I currently prefer using Yak Pay, as I don't spend enough to justify the paid pay.com.au plans. Comparing the free plan level, YP...

Virgin ‘New Era’ event Thur 19th. [*Postponed*]

I guess the stop in GUM would also allow them to announce that they are restoring flights to the US, and flying to a UA hub!

    VA Status Upgrade Bag Tags

Another data point - I reached Silver on 28/3 - no bag tags or welcome pack to date (other than the "Welcome to Silver membership" email). I have since reached Gold last week, but not sure if they will send me a welcome pack.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

VA978 BNE-SYD 1805 departure - the two options were the Spanish chicken or the Korean vegetarian fried rice. I had the chicken and my wife had the fried rice - both were reasonable.

Will Virgin's Premium Lounge Entries open back up at some point?

Maybe they got someone from Vodafone on their team. They announced wifi calling for prepaid would be available "in the near future" in December 2017... and finally got around to doing it in December 2021.

    Rental car excess insurance

Silver lining - an opportunity to earn some points on the cost of the damage? :)

Has Qantas lost your business due to its failure to provide customer service?

Perhaps it's a freudian slip - I guess even the call centre staff acknowledge that they have been in crisis since March 2019, a year before the pandemic hit.

Etihad J award using VA points?

We had a similar issue pre-COVID - the VA call centre helped us book the flights.

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

I had thought about posting this a while ago, but had written off the taxes/points off in my mind a while back - posting now that the situation has *finally* been resolved with the help of another AFFer (not sure if they want to be identified!). I had originally booked a return flight to...

Holidays and Airport 'Chaos' since COVID

I flew out of SYD T2 on Friday 25/3 and while the queue wasn't quite this bad, it was close! 1. The escalator from the arrivals level up to departures wasn't working. So each of the lifts had massive queues to get up. I ended up walking out of the terminal across the road to the car park and...

Article: Virgin Business Class Better Value than Qantas in 2022?

Flew VA J between BNE-SYD with SWMBO a couple of times this year, and would echo most of the comments above: - Very good service on the ground and in the air - Only thing is VA doesn't offer any opportunity to note special dietary requirements/allergies, so there was one flight where none of the...

Domestic travel insurance - COVID isolation?

I'm planning to travel interstate (to NSW) for the first time in a long while. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for domestic travel insurance that would cover the costs of additional accommodation due to the need to isolate based on the local rules (e.g. if we test positive)? EDIT...

    Australian state border restrictions

Merry Christmas @jakeseven7 ! Had this post watched as requested… Looks like this prediction was well off the mark, and it looks like they're in fact tightening borders for the holiday period.

    RewardPay Alternatives

Looks like pay.com.au now do BPay. They've also introduced another feature (sometime between early October and mid November) where the transaction on my CC statement now shows up as the actual recipient rather than pay.com.au, which is rather handy. It does still show up with pay.com.au's suburb...

Accor ALL Waives Points Expiry Until December 15, 2022

Ah good point - I was talking about points. However, checking the online membership card, it says “valid until 31/3/22 inclusive”. Perhaps due to status being provided through my Amex plat charge?
