Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

We did a similar thing - booked Amex FHR at the Langham (Melbourne). Rack rate was the same as Amex Travel for us too, except Amex Travel had (has?) a "stay 2 nights, get the 3rd free" offer. This, plus the free breakfast and $US100 credit blew any other booking options out of the water.

How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

It sounds like the staff training here hasn’t changed since we last stayed a while back. This hotel is on my wife’s blacklist after being told off by reception for “jumping the queue” when we dared line up at the Accor member counter; with no apology after we showed them we were allowed to do so.

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Depends on the hotel. I’ve found deals on Amex travel that were cheaper than other sites (including some “stay X nights, get 1 free”). If they gave you a credit with no strings attached, then that would effectively just be an annual fee reduction. I don’t think Amex will be in a hurry to do that.

Ways to earn Velocity Status Credits

Why would you be ineligible for an Amex just because you have one already? If it's a credit limit issue, just get them to swap your product over. The status credit offer isn't an introductory offer from what I can see, it appears to be an ongoing benefit.

Ways to earn Velocity Status Credits

    1. Fly Buys, but note: - you've just missed the cutoff for January, so the earliest you'll get the status credits is March - there's a limit of 10 status credits per month (except during specified promo periods like December last year) 2. Apply for the Amex Velocity Platinum Card (American...

Is QF ever likely to fly into Dubai again?

Agreed slots is an issue, but I thought Finnair had a surplus of planes that they needed to deploy? Maybe they’ve already used the extras up. Eg the following article (and others) suggested that AY were wet leasing their planes to Eurowings and had launched a new partnership with QR due to AY...

Fiji Airways to fly Nadi-Dallas/Fort Worth direct

I would tend to agree - given there are already non-stop SYD-DFW and MEL-DFW flights, FJ would have to work harder (better pricing, better service) to compete against QF's non-stop service. There are currently no non-stop flights from AU to ORD, so FJ would be on an equal footing with other...

Article: Qatar Airways’ Bizarre Daily Melbourne-Adelaide Flight

Yeah, that's the problem (the destination airport curfew forcing an hours-long overnight stay in the terminal for pax in MEL) I was trying to solve!

Article: Qatar Airways’ Bizarre Daily Melbourne-Adelaide Flight

From the new article: I wonder why they picked ADL then? Sure, it's the largest city they could fly to (given BNE, SYD, MEL, PER are out of bounds), but the terrible flight times would totally negate this as a consideration. I guess the considerations are: - Must be an AU destination (e.g...

EK to increase BNE frequency from June 2023

Just saw this in the news - original media statement is here: Emirates to double daily services to Brisbane from June 2023 It will be operated by a 777, complementing the existing A380 service. The article and statement don't mention what the schedule will be.

    RewardPay Alternatives

Our card is still at the original $60k limit and we’ve had it for four years now 😅. We have larger expenses about once a year but end up just splitting up the payment each time and paying down the account in between.

    RewardPay Alternatives

There is an underlying limit. You can find out what your spending ability is online once you get the card. AFAIK the limit starts off at $60k, but you can request an increase (just like a credit card).

Early status upgrade to VFF Gold - what should I do?

Just a follow up to this. Virgin didn’t upgrade me early in the end, but I just got the required status credits via fly buys during the December double SC promo.
