Flixbus One Way $9.99 Promo Fares (Melbourne, Albury, Canberra, Sydney)

Yes, that's a good option, but just being able to select a seat (for a small fee) beats the pants off Murray's sit where you are told approach.

    How does Hertz treat you

I rented a car at LST recently and was given an "upgrade" to a higher class vehicle. This was an Audi Q5, which was very nice. But there was a sting in the tail, in that Hertz charged me more than the quoted price for the original vehicle class (a Mazda CX30 equivalent). I didn't regard that...

    Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

Was in the MEL Dom J lounge on Monday, and there were plenty of the mesh towels in the shower cubicles. Same as were previously available in the loos.

Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Yes, I flew the 220 CBR-MEL recently in 6A and thought it was pretty good too. I also flew on the 321XLR SYD-MEL a couple of days ago in 7A and thought that was really nice. The equivalent of VA's Economy-X. So go Economy Plus!

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Just to wrap this up, my flight from LST to MEL today was cancelled. Luckily I returned my rental car early, and was able, via the lovely Qantas staff, to rebook on the LST-SYD flight that was departing in a few minutes time, so I got home to Canberra a couple of hours earlier than I otherwise...

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Well Poochie, today was the day I needed to get from LST to Launceston. I had decided that the bast way was to rent a car, as the cost was not much more than using Uber or a taxi. Driving along Evandale Rd to Breadalbane, I did notice that the paved bike track seemed quite suitable for walking...

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I'll be staying overnight in MEL tomorrow between flights. I was thinking to stay in the city, but really couldn't face the hassle using MyKi on the bus and train (and wasn't fussed about using SkyBus again). I do have a MyKi card, but have never used it. I've previously lived in Melbourne for...

J Awards HEL to BKK; One World

There doesn't seem to be a lot of such rewards around atm, but just a short random search has suggeted a couple, as follows:

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

I see that Flixbus is now a thing in Australia. I've used them several times in Europe and IME they're fine. They have a promo at the moment for $9.99 for MEL-CBR-SYD (and points in between). I've just booked CBR-SYD (Dom) for next March for $9.99. Was going to take the train, but this is...

AirAsia X, KUL-MEL Premium Flatbed (1-2-1 config) and a KLIA T2 fiasco (or how to nearly miss your flight)

Yes, I've stayed at thr Tune KLIA2 and it's very convenient, but not particularly cheap for KL. I didn't depart on Air Asia, but had to go to T1 for my OmanAir flight. But it was still very convenient. KLIA2 is more of a very large shopping mall than an airport. It's a complete maze.

Cannot add QF Frequent Flyer Number on Cathay's website

I booked a CX ticket yesterday on their website and there was no problem at all entering my QFF number. Indeed, if I hadn't done this I couldn't have selected the seats I did.. So I guess you didn't do this when making the booking. Perhaps you should be clearer about how the booking was made.

Article: Strategies for Cheap Business Class Flights to Europe

Sorry, I was being a little fascetious in my previous post. I've been to MNL many times, and know the ropes at T3 and T1, I do find it a little hard to believe that it was only 15 mins from exiting the aircraft to the Belmont. Perhaps a little bit of artistc licence, but I imagine that it was a...

New SkyBus routes; Sunshine & Eastern Express

I'm really happy I could score a decent hotel deal near MEL (with free shuttle), rather than having to catch the bus to Melbourne or its suburbs. FWIW, I have lived in Melbourne (with my family) in the past, so I know how happy I am.

Article: Where to Find Accurate Airline Seat Maps in 2023

Whilst AeroLopa is useful in seeing the actual layout of the cabin, it offers little advice as to which seats are better or worse than others. I'm afraid you're on your own with this. But with a little imagination, and some research here and there, you can probably suss it out, to some extent...

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

I'm not sure if that is entirely correct, but if it was the case, then it has been gifted to them, rather than they have taken it. And, FWIW, I don't think I have ever seen many non-European faces in this process. YMMV.

    Upgrade Dilemma

Well, thanks for all your advice folks. In the end, I decided to bite the bullet with CX. Pretty good fare, PE one-way SYD-MNL (via HKG) for AU$1,291. Paper cups notwithstanding. I just didn't want to take the risk of ending up with an uncomfortable 8 hour flight in Qantas Y on the 330. Might...
