I've read the website and nothing in there says that they will hand out 10 nights in October to existing members. All it says is that members will be upgraded to Gold. Unclear if they will hand out 10 nights to everyone or only to Silver members.
I wonder why they did this. 8,000 points is an insignificant amount.

I expect it will work like any other domestic-international or v.v. Jetstar connection. You collect your bags and check in for the next flight as normal. You better hurry, if JQ62 isn't cancelled, check-in closes 1hr before departure.
If you activate it now your account will say you are platinum until Aug 2026. Whether Accor will retract that on 1 Jan 2026 remains to be seen. The FAQs do not directly address this issue although it indirectly suggests that they will retract it. It may or may not be worth the gamble.
I considered cancelling and resubscribing until I realised I have a booking in mid September on a members rate booked during the recent sale. I can't run the risk of them repricing my booking to today's non-member rates.

They should have launched the new program on 1 Jan to avoid this issue of people being caught out by unexpected status downgrades. This year was my "use points to pay" year as I thought my status was secure until next year.
