    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I used my TextNow number to sign up and used a different email address to my AU account. Hope that helps & I keep receiving my credits. Assuming this won’t work for Uber Eats?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I set up an US Uber account and used my card as the payment card for Uber and caught an Uber to the airport and it appears to have worked for me - the credit appeared on my Amex transactions. It wasn’t a ride in the US but used a US account. Guess the question is what the exchange rate Uber used...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I got 70k in branch in January when the website offer was 60k. I think it went as high as 95k shortly after but them’s the breaks.

That's what I did. I wonder how unfavourable the Exchange rate is which Uber uses to turn AUD fare back into USD.

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

That was my experience - was surprised how quickly they approved it. I later reduced limit due to home loan application requirements. It was like pulling teeth to get a credit limit increase - took 4 weeks where I provided everything they asked for and managed to get it through finally as I had...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I got 125,000 MR points for $6K spend moving from Green to Platinum. Wish it was more but them's the breaks. I can use the Uber credits - open a US Uber account. I'm also using the streaming credits. YMMV.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I have the ‘bog standard’ Premier and a CSP.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for sharing the article. Whilst I think the 0.1% issue is not a huge deal breaker, the ability to choose which cards to accept (like the ‘super premium’ cards) will likely put a huge dent in demand for these types of cards if they can’t be used at merchants. I recall using my Citi...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for the heads up @Darkpulsar, I think the UBS CC is not that exceptional as to give them my portfolio to manage and charge me fees for. I might let this one go. After all, there’s only so many cards we should have (I understand part of the point is to harvest as many SUBs as we can while...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I have a DP with my HSBC US Premier CC. Called up today and added a family member. They just wanted to know passport details, no other ID required. They will mail a new card for my new AU to my registered address in the US. It will have the same details as mine including card number & Expiry. I...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thanks for sharing - the UBS card looks interesting. Just trying to figure it out - Spend $US25k ($A38.5k) in a year and get $500 back. That's how it reads though then it goes on to say something about restaurant spend. I can't see any mention of it - is the UBS card(s) only available to UBS...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

ok thanks for the heads up. I had the Amex Green and used it all the time for public transport at 3x - I don't know that the extra earn I got from that would be significant enough to offset the extra AF.

    New Amex statement credits

My DP on the Personal US Platinum. I recently upgraded my Green to Platinum. I've set up a US Uber account, and it's credited for a ride I took in SYD to the airport. I haven't checked what the exchange rate that Uber applied - assuming it was favourable to them so there's that though it unlocks...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Sorry to ask what might be an obvious question: Why go for HSBC Elite at $495 AF aside from being at the start of the US CC journey? The Premier looks just as "good" unless giving AMEX a miss for the 5X on travel. If you have the Premier already, do you get another bite at the points "cherry" by...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I think that's exactly it - if they quote a certain amount of time, they just sit on it at the SYD then get it to you - though those shipping options look alot cheaper than mine including PE mail. Anytime also refuse deliveries from Couriers like my newly minted Amex Platinum and my Citi ATM...

Not such a great way to fly

My son left his shoes with his orthotics in the Changi J lounge. Not heard a peep despite the flight crew saying they would inform the lounge. Not even a response to the email to SATs as apparently, they handle all this stuff for SQ. It’s been several weeks.

KrisFlyer devaluation beginning Nov 1st 2025

Thought that’s been the case for a long time. There aren’t any saver awards. Ponying up for ‘Advantage’ means you are likely to get the redemption. I’ve never found saver - assuming SQ put through a price rise with Advantage but still hold out the slim prospect of ‘saver’ fares so it’s not...

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Re the FX spread, most people generally use Wise or Revolut where the spread is maybe 20 pips. That makes it worth the effort though it is a ‘hobby’ for many of us on AFF so there is that X factor which the raw numbers can’t take into account. @Duffa what service are you using for your FX? 1%...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

These rates are currently working IME though guessing that’s subject to change. In which case 1x at the current exchange rate of approx. 0.65c would only be competitive against AU bank issued cards.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I haven’t looked at the Atmos card closely. Is there any gotchas like a foreign transaction fee? Who is the issuing bank, how hard is it to get one and do they get precious if mostly all the transactions are outside the US? Sounds very interesting otherwise.
