Virgin Australia changes to carry on baggage allowance effective 2 Feb 2026

The opportunist in me says to have a rummage through those bags. At the very least, I'd be inclined to hand it to a hostie with information of the owners location and, if appropriate, ask them to remind the pax that rows 15 and beyond should be boarding from the rear.

Credit Card Offers Refreshed Amex Velocity Platinum Card Benefits & Offers

Never had to do it personally but the pain would be better than potentially having to deal with a suspended or cancelled card, or juggling part payments regularly to stay under $3k.

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

Really interesting post, thanks. As someone who has only had a brief view of the aged care system from the outside but is likely to be forced to engage soon, this info is utterly frightening. I'm sure a separate thread for aged care discussion would be useful and well patronised. The thing...

Credit Card Offers Refreshed Amex Velocity Platinum Card Benefits & Offers

That's not correct. I've put more than the limit on my card several times but not in one go though. I'd pay the 5k in a few installments, paying it off immediately and if its going to be regular thing get a limit increase.

QantasLink to fly to Christmas & Cocos (Keeling) Islands

The flight schedule makes it rather difficult to combine CCK with XCH. Stopovers are permitted but essentially you have to stay on each for seven days. I don't have time for that, and would probably baulk at the cost anyway, which is a pity as I have the opportunity to go on Nov 17 which is...

    New Amex statement credits

PSA regarding the Tech Head cards via the Special GC deals via Amex. The Tech Head cards seem to no longer work for utilities no matter the payment method. I couldn't use one to pay Origin or actweAGL direct, via postbillpay, or via paypal on postbillpay. Those utilities don't have paypal as...

Anyone’s Forever Gold balance go backwards?

Same boat here it seems. In July I had ~8k with ~5k on VA needed. Now I have ~7.3k with ~4.7k on VA needed (ie all). Not something I will focus on.

Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

There is a temporary unavailability of redemptions across the program between those dates. But SQ, Etihad, Qatar and Cathay will not be redemption partners from 16 Nov.

Citi cards become myCard - no more CX, KF, EY, QR from 16/11/25

It would be easier to make decisions if NAB provided some/any info relating to points after the MyCard migration.

    Coles gift card offers

It was 20x three weeks ago for almost the same cards. Annoyingly the retailer I wanted (Officeworks) wasn't on a $100 card then so I got stacks of $50's. The patience of some checkout dude is going to be tested.

    How does Hertz treat you

I’d check the T&Cs for any cutoff time past the booking time that invalidates the booking. If there’s not one then picking up late is not an issue. I’ve done that quite a lot in Australia (usually hertz Mitchell act) without any issue. But I did it in Italy with a car through Rentalcars.Com and...

Are the days of Points collecting over?

Don't forget that EK now also limits F awards to its own elites, meaning that transferring credit card points to EK without Skywards status there has limited use. Another nail in my FFP coffin.

10% bonus miles when converting bank points into Asia Miles

    PSA: Qantas Hotels drip pricing

Not limited to QF Hotels. I recently tried to book on Expedia. After doing plenty of searches over a week, where the price didn't change, I came back to book and was quoted that price [X]. When I hit go to checkout a few seconds later, a box appeared saying something like "We hate it when...

Are the days of Points collecting over?

Only in the worst possible scenario does 100k-120k points cost $120k to $240k plus surcharges. This weeks Woollies gift card offer sees 100k QFF cost a tick under $1,200. And that's not an especially good deal but you do end up with $20,000 of visa cards to pay bills that wouldn't normally...
