    Wise debit card

My experience with Wise also made me Wise up to the risks with these platforms. I'm still with them and using it but much more aware. Opening the business account mid 2020. Two tears later out of the blue I received this email So a flurry of checking and of course all of my ASIC returns are...

Article: Why is Dynamic Currency Conversion Even Legal?

Is this just an automation of the old exchange rate shopping around? Remember when travellers checks were a thing and Hotel reception provided currency exchange. I never used a hotel exchange rate but we all know they were ridiculous rates. This new dynamic method is people accepting the...

    Wise debit card

The cash limit is a big drawback. It depends on where you are travelling. Modern countries Japan, Singapore where everything is paywave the cash doesn't mater. Philippines, Vietnam it is more critical. But I am a fanboy for Wise just for clarity and immediateness of transaction amounts. Spend...

    Vietnam by motorbike.

thanks for the feedback Scarlett and JackMiles. I have come to the conclusion that the larger bikes are not going to be for my risk but the <50cc can be my transport for a while. We will probably do a van tour for the longer distances then ride locally in some of the regional towns.

    Vietnam by motorbike.

I’m considering doing some motorbike touring during an upcoming trip to Vietnam and wanted to clarify the licensing and insurance situation. I know many Australians have traveled there and done motorbike tours on various bikes, but the legalities can be confusing. Licensing: No local license...

    Apple Airtags

We have an apple airtag hidden in the back of the car. Bear in mind: Needs a battery change each 12 months so it cannot be totally inaccessible. New passengers (kids' mates with iphones) have reported getting the "there is an airtag following you" message It can be disconcerting when you are...

    Hack to extend payment

That was exactly my problem with the first booking which I ended up doing as two bookings both within the CC limit. I did not look or expect to see a way to use multiple payments on the SQ site. When I had this same fare booked through an agent, the price was the same but there was a an...

    Hack to extend payment

Here's a way to 'hold' a fare for two weeks on the SQ website giving you time to arrange other details before committing the funds. When making a recent booking directly on the SQ website I had processed a booking all the way to the payment page where upon I needed to go transfer some funds to...

Tight ITL to ITL connex at Changi on 2 x SQ flights - are there security or customs delays etc?

My most recent transit was BKK-SIN-BNE with a 60 minute SIN transit. BKK-SIN arrived 90 minutes late in SIN. I was hoping for a free SIN stopover. Prior to disembarking the announcement was for some cities to approach the ground staff for new boarding passes, we just had to get from T2 to T3...

Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

Manila pre-boarding took my empty water bottle. Of course I protested but the guy was pointing to the bin of other water bottles they had confiscated. In any case there was nowhere to refill the empty bottle anyway.

Sanity check on booking a SQ RTW fare

It's bookable via the SQ Website and TAs. It 'could' be a RTW with SQ for the same price if we land into JFK and then depart out of EWR to SIN. We we will spend some time in Washington and Vegas before heading up to Seattle. The SQ fare only cross USA option is the EWR-SIN.

    Airport "QYG" German railway stations

I'm currently in the process of booking an SQ multicity itinerary which includes a departure from FRA. When entering the airports I'm also seeing an option for "QYG" German railway stations. How is this code used? Specifically is it going to be useful to leverage on my leisurely rail trip from...

    Apple Airtags

I've noticed that the Airtag batteries last about one year. So being the efficient traveller I removed the batteries in my suitcases when I'm not travelling. Well now I can't find one of them that I put sans battery. It was last seen as at the date of my last return. Annoying but it will be found.

What's your Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles experience?

For the past two years I have carefully ensured that Mabuhay Mile numbers are entered on points earning PR itineraries. I check the MM account after one month and the miles just never post at all. I make a claim via the online claim tools and it works immediately recognising the flight/ticket...
