Yes, you can always ask for one, the worst they can do is say no.
Of course red-e-deals are not known to be upgrade friendly, so chances are that the answer will most likely be no.

It should show you current seat availability no matter how far out and certainly more than 4 days. The closer you get to the flight date, the better the idea you will have of your chances of an upgrade.
