Hi everyone, first time poster, long time "lurker"...

Anyway, I'm QF Gold (economy business flyer...) and coming to the end of my year. This year I have been flying others apart from Qantas which has left me a couple of hundred SCs short of gold retention. Have to travel to Europe in late May and, after reading another thread, someone mentioned that QF typically offer a double SC sale around this time of year.. Can anyone confirm this is true historically (as it will get me over the retention line!) and do you have to wait for the special to commence before booking? Or will they credit the double SC as long as you travel in that period, even if booked before the "special" officially starts?

Thanks for your help!

Andrew

Hi Andrew, the double SC promotion (if offered at all) is targeted ie not all FF benefit, you must receive an email to the promotion. If you do no travel booked prior will be eligible. IMHO if a couple of hundred SC short you should look at using points for a JASA ( assuming the current problems with the QF website get sorted) or else be prepared for the drop to PS.

I wish they would send me one. I need 240 scs before the end of the month, but it seems that you have to fly on QF flight numbers and since I'm in the UK that's difficult.

If you've already got your 4 Qantas flights / segments to qualify you don't need to get those 240SCs on QF. You can get 160SCs flying J on BA to SKG (Thessaloniki) or 120 flying to Rome (FCO) and a number of other easterly Euro destinations which should be reasonably priced (with the usual caveats on what SC/$/status is worth to you and actually wanting to go to the places you're travelling to).

What I meant was that previous double SC offers appear to only be valid on QF flights. I could get the required SCs for around £320, which is pretty cheap but don't really have the time or the available funds to do it before month end.
