Hello all. Planning a flight through the CX website. All goes well until essentially payment then it wants to combine flights and it reprices them at significant premium. I cant see any minimum stay rules either.

Looks like this SYD to HKG (stop for a few days) and then to BKK or SIN (stop for a few days) before transit back to HKG and then onto connection back to SYD (stop time is 4 hours so no issue with MCT).

The app holds up the last leg and says as stopping in HKG less than 24 hours it can either combine the flights or I can stay longer. If i combine them so it is essentially BKK or SIN to SYD via HKG then it pushes the price up by about $1500.

So I look to stay past the 24 hours but then it wont let me book J seats out of SIN instead pushing to PE apart from one flight which has a horrible arrival time and would effectively mean two nights in hotel bookings realistically.

Am I missing something here with the requirement to stay in HKG? As I said there appears no minimum stay requirements in the fare rules. Its a shame as it was a good fare and worked well with times.

To update this thread and close it out, for reasons not entirely clear, CX were imposing a minimum 24 hour stop even though the fares had no minimum stay periods. If you stopped less than 24 hours it reprices quite significantly.

I just had this same experience booking a multi-city flight. I had to ‘combine’ flights and accept a >24 layover on the first leg or pay $4000 more (3 x J).
