Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

Yes, also got $20 cash back from buying a Wish card (and 800 QFF points from having my card linked at Qantas shopping)…

EDIT - note also Bonus 10% on Ultimate Gift Cards | 20x EDR on $50 Uber & Apple Gift Cards @ Big W (buy a $100 Apple card and you might get 1000 QFF points from the 30x promo, 800 QFF points from Qantas shopping and $20 cashback from Citi).
How did the 800 QFF come about @MELso? Big W isn't a Qantas Shopping partner and wish cards aren't available on the Big W website?

Looks like holders of the 'FFFL' Rewards card (as opposed to Premier card) have been advised that henceforth, they'll be charged a $149 annual fee. So much for the 'for life' bit. Anyway, watch this space it seems...

I have read some chatter about this over on Whirlpool.
I've had the free-for-life Citi card since the late 1990s. Over that time it has morphed (for me) into the Premier card. Currently still FFL but I am expecting a Citi email any day now...I guess these changes are in preparation for the migration over to NAB.

Pity as its been my everyday credit card and have earned a coughload of QFF points for pretty much free!
If I get that dreaded email soon I will be on the hunt for the best QFF rewards card with the least fee. I guess the days of fee-free are over with reward earning.

$149 per year, for being able to pay bills pay tradies pay God pay Muhammad pay Jesus pay Moses pay Virgin Mary, is it really such a bad deal? I don't think so.

I have the premier but no email yet. My guess would be that they will try to change it to something more than 149.

Just providing the SAVED EVIDENCE from end of 2013 for anyone who wishes to use in the fight against reneging on written terms and conditions.
My personal opinion is I won't be fighting. I don't want to kick up the fuss, when I have to pay bills pay tradies pay God pay Muhammad pay Jesus pay Moses pay Virgin Mary. I don't want Citi to start looking into their margin any further and start investigating who Jesus Muhammad Moses are.

At least you're paying respectable characters! :)

I'm paying Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Putin, Joe McCarthy, Robert McNamara, Henry Kissinger, Richard Nixon, Idi Amin, Josep Tito, Robert Mugabe, Nicolae Ceaușescu, Ferdinand Marcos and Pol Pot 🥸

There is no fine print about the FFL, except for the bit that says "things can change". I do not think this is legally enforceable on NAB, they can just close the Citi credit cards down and say "hey, thats end of life" they are under no obligation to give you an NAB credit card. but hey, i will be lodging my complaint too. :)

What surprises me is NAB not issuing a letter explaining they are withdrawing the FFL. I can understand if they think its not affordable to them, and i doubted it would have lasted forever anyway.

Citi calls it Pay ALL! ALL! So I don't see why can't we all pay Putin some money every month and earn some points?!

I must be really dense because I'm not getting the Putin and Muhammad references lol

Sad about FFFL ending, it's been a good run all these years.

I hope it drags on a while as my 2 x free Priority Pass visits reset on 1st April....will use them ASAP
I can get 10 x PP visits for around AUD 200 with PBI salary sacrifice so $149 is a definite no.
The only other good thing about it after massive points devaluation around 10 years ago was the Citidining free bottle of wine but that is long gone
Although with the AMEX Krisflyer devaluating I've been back using the card for any online purchases.

I've managed to open up an HSBC Premier MC in anticipation of the inevitable "we're no longer offering your card" email from NAB.

It's also $0 annual fee and earns 1.5 HSBC points per $ up to $120,000 per year which is roughly 80,000 KrisFyler/Velocity/AsiaMiles which is actually a better rate up to $120,000 than the Citi FFFL card from memory so YMMV depending on how much you spend. Those 80,000 points can get you an upgrade to Premium Economy from Economy return from Singapore to Heathrow, or an upgrade to Business from Premium Economy return from HK to Heathrow for example. The card also gives 2x lounge access per year vis DragonPass.

Alternatively you can get the HSBC Premier Qantas which is also $0 and earns 1 QFF per $ up to $120,000 per year. For new account holders, you will get 1.5 QFF per $ up to $120,000 in the first 12 months which is pretty dope esp for a $0 AF. Im not sure if this version gets you the lounge access though, but from the wording of HSBC's website it seems like you do.

Only caveat is that you need to get Premier status which you can get by either "depositing at least $9,000 into your transaction account every month" OR "maintain at least a total of $150,000 in savings/deposits with HSBC". Im using the first option which is pretty easy by transferring my salary into my HSBC account then transferring it back every month. Alternatively you could transfer the funds paid to Jesus Moses Mohammed Putin etc into the HSBC account every month.

But that evidence doesn't say whether it is free for your life or Citibank Australia's life.
Your contract was with Citibank Australia and that company is dead.

More likely to be the product's life. At any time they can declare the product is at end of life and hence so is the fee free offer. Amazing really they didn't pull that trigger a long time ago. They would have copped enormous backlash, so at the end of the day I guess they decided it was just easier to sell up completely and let that become the new buyer's problem instead.

The Citibank Credit card account will be closed. NAB will open a new Credit account for you, and do a balance transfer. Therefore no obligation by NAB to continue the Free for Life deal.

but... its Citibank that has written to customers advising the new Annual fee whilst its still a Citibank product.

I haven’t received any notification about a fee or any other change to my FFFL card. And nothing stated on Citi app when logged in. Was it communicated to others by email?
