Hi all,

Time to fly to the US again, after a 2 year break. I'm missing the BNE-LAX direct option, but never mind.

I'm looking to book through the VA website, which obviously supplies United flights for the US leg/s of the trip. The issue is, I can't select seats on the VA site for the AU-US flights. As someone that flew business class a bit pre-COVID (that dream is now dead, at $10k+ a seat!!), I'd like to at least get an exit row or extra legroom seat for th elong haul flights.

Is there any way to select seat son United flights when booking through VA?

yes but you have to go directly to the united website, find your trip in their system and you can upgrade/ choose seats from there

Hi there! I have this same issue.

Unfortunately I dont have a united airlines ticket number or booking confirmation because it was booked via my work travel agent platform and it's a virgin flight. The virgin confirmation does not work to find my trip. None of my trips are coming up on my united app and i have flown to the US twice now in the last 3 months with a third trip coming up.

I picked my seat the first time through the booking on the work sight but when i checked in at the airport they said nothing was ever recorded so i got assigned a new seat.

Does the work travel agent platform show both booking references?

My booking through Virgin with a UA flight attached had the UA booking reference next to the relevant flight on my confirmation/e-ticket email.
