I wanted to book a one way flight to Bali from mel with Garuda as they are the only to offer J Direct .
Thinking of doing it through a partner airline by transferring from Marriott reward . Any idea which airline would be best .
I could do it thru ANA but they only do return . Does anyone have any other ideas ?

I don't know if it's a good value redemption, but I used Flying Blue points for a one-way J ticket on GA.

It would be possible to book this through any SkyTeam airline. Korean Air is one of the better programs but you have to book round-trip. There is also Flying Blue and Delta Skymiles.

You should also be able to redeem Etihad Guest miles for GA flights, but I've never actually been able to find availability via Etihad. (Not sure if GA isn't releasing any seats to Etihad or if I just always get incompetent call centre reps...)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No availability on flying blue or Etihad. Does anyone know if one can book return on Korean air or ana and cancel the refund to get a full refund on the return sector ?

No you can't. If you only fly one-way, you'll still have to pay for a return booking.

You can book one way economy for 10,000 miles in flying blue (plus about $18 in taxes) - and can be done online. Depending on day of travel this saves about $150 AUD. That's 30,000 Marriott Rewards points, probably better value using as hotel stay, but of course we all have our own valuations.

I myself have never been able to book any flight with Garuda through Etihad Guest, even if availability for Garuda is showing through Delta and Expert Flyer. There clearly has to be a problem.
