Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Just signed up for an account from the 10k point offer. To waive the $6 fee for the account keeping by depositing $2k in a month does that need to stay in there? Or can I withdraw this the day after the deposit?
In and out same day is fine.

I just got my first statement, 9 pages, made about 300 small transactions at supermarkets, cafes, paying bills, etc, during the statement period, but received only a total of 5 points received for transactions, (which equates to 1 transaction). I thought it was 5 points per transaction, not per statement. Very disappointed.

That doesn't sound right at all. Best chase up Bankwest confirm as you should indeed receive 5 points per transaction provided the transaction was not in relation to an excluded category.

It is 5 points per transaction.

Personally not sure I'd be chasing just yet, because as soon as you do you are advertising to BW what you are up to which will hasten your downfall. Better to wait a few months and lodge a FOS complaint for the missing points.

I am inclined to agree with you Burmans. I still need to get the 10000 points awarded, too, and I don’t want to jeopardise that. I’ve now made the required 10 eligible transactions of at least $2 each, safe purchases, like one-off coffees, etc, although my statement is showing just 5 points in transactions. I’ll wait another statement period. The majority of my transactions, though, were multiple $1’s paying off a bill, 50 per day, and their Ts & Cs state something about their right to cancel points if they feel the account is being abused.

Paying of bills? As in bpay? That could be your problem.

No, not Bpay. Online eftpos authorisation payments of a bill to a large provider in $1increments (up to 50 a day), which I did for about 4 days only, plus small single transactions for coffee, supermarket, etc. Those latter ones, at least, should have shown up as there was no ‘abuse’. But as I posted earlier, I will see the second month out, receive the 10000 bonus points, before raising it with BW. I suspect my account has been flagged as it is.

You're supposed to take it up with the bank before going to FOS.

I haven’t received a statement yet and I opened this account on 20/6 so just wondering when I should expect it. Do you get a statement every month?

It depends how many transactions you make. It could be up to 3 months between statements if you are a light user.

I opened mine on 21/6 just a day after you, and received it a few days ago. Yes, every month. Was alerted to it by email, and logged into BW, click on ‘e-statements’.

Worth noting that last time they tried to pull hundreds of thousands of points out of people’s accounts (however in their infinite wisdom, actually credited it). They can’t take points that aren’t in your account.
